have you actually ever robbed a house? carrying a gun into the house is suspicious, you sneak into the house, usually if they have roof tiles that's the best way, jump down through the roof, if you find someone or a gun,l take it so you are now armed. If you see a safe note its location and make sure no one runs there, they won't be able to open it quick enough anyhow, so checking the room every 5 minutes is enough.

Usually guns are easy to find, under the bed, in drawers, near the door etc. so they are easily found and taken for your own.

Don't rob someone you know is a good start, if you know them then they will usually suspect any acquaintances who have seen their house or know they deal drugs.
They can't suspect someone they have never seen.
If you see a gun lying around, take it. One less thing for them to shoot you with and you are now armed.
If the house has roof tiles, lift them and access the roof like that, hit the house from top down, then leave through the door.
