This looks like it is an allergic reaction to an insect bite, a type IV hypersensitivity. There may also be some mild colonisation with staph and other bacteria which normally live on the skin, but you dragged them in there by scratching and not dressing it properly. Inflammation from type iv sensitivity to bites can spread along veins/lymphatics and resemble infection. It is likely not sepsis since you didnt mention any systemic symptoms like fever.
Just clean with antiseptic and cover it. If it keeps spreading or you get fever/blurry vision/pus on the wound, go to a doctor.
