I make about 1000 dollars a month after taxes, 250 a week. I bust my ass every day unloading retail trucks and throwing bins, don't get benefits, don't get payed for working overtime that I'm pretty much forced to work (instead I get paid time off that I have to have 32 hours of before I can go through a month long approval to use, which almost always gets denied), I don't get holiday pay (again, paid time off bullshit that I get nothing out of), I don't get sick days, instead there's a point system, calling in gives you a point and when you get to 9 you're automatically fired, these points reset every 6 months (doesn't sound that bad, you essentially get 9 free call ins, but you can get points other ways like going home early and clocking in 30 seconds too late), if you don't show up and don't call in you're automatically fired (even if you don't have any possible way to call in, you're gone), it's all a massive fuck storm that I can't believe exists.

Gas and especially cars are imported in Denmark. Imported goods are always a bit higher priced. Minimum wage originally was supposed to be enough so one person working 40 hours a week could support themselves, a partner, and up to three kids. It stayed this way during the biggest economic boom in American history. It stopped keeping up with inflation in the 60's but if it didn't stop it would be at least $15 nationally currently, if not over $20 due to improved productivity due to technology.

By saying it's 'just above' the poverty line you don't realize you're just moving the goal posts. We can afford a minimum wage like we used to, in fact if we want to be #1 economically we absolutely have to. All you people who are past minimum wage pay stop buying the oligarchy's lies. Burger flippers aren't going to make as much as you because if you have unions and fight for your rights your pay will go up as well comparatively more than minimum wage again.

actually we have the exact same problem in cali. especially in the entertainment industry, which makes up a huge majority of work here. the old people refuse to retire, and block new blood from being able to get jobs. i have a friend that went to college to be an editor, and he has not been able to break into 1 serious gig yet. hes gotten lucky enough to find a few low budget films (i mean like z- movie level of films) but everytime a real possible position comes up, they always end up passing on him to get an old guy thats been in the biz. hell go for loooong periods of no available work

Nope. Live in an area where there were 5 factories employing most of the people in three counties. Most of the positions required technical training certificates/degrees. Most of these people are now completely unemployed, flipping burgers, or working at Walmarts.
