It's OK, you just have to manually set your own DNS to Google's 8.8.8.8 and you'll not be effected. All you're doing here is telling people to use the other guy's DNS for their domain name to IP address conversions.

You set your own DNS on your computer's network connection, but set the other guy's DNS as the network default.

To be honest, it's such a good idea i'm a little upset I didn't think of it. This is also why it's a good idea to have a openDNS account if you travel a lot.
