I went from 84kg to 55kg in 8 months by eating one large meal a day, or compressing it within a <4 hour time window and fasting until it was time to eat again.

The quickest way to lose weight is by using DNP. You can lose over a pound and a half of fat per day, and that's if you're already somewhat fit. If you're already obese, expect the fat to literally melt off.

The purpose of BMR is to be the floor of that variability. It will naturally vary based on your body composition, but not that much. Exercise won't raise your BMR, it will just make your actual caloric expenditure go further above it. Diet soda spikes your insulin, which drops your blood sugar, which causes hunger. It's just not good for you. That insulin spike does not correspond with actually calorie intake and skews a lot of ordinary responses.
