i was just asking because i have a concealed weapons permit and carry a handgun for self defense, and practice on average 2-3 times a month, actual holster drills, action steel course, etc. i can't believe that cops aren't mandated that kind of practice...at least the general officers. i know swat units train extensively at a constant level. but skills like firearm handling are perishable, and must be maintained to stay sharp. also when to draw and actually deploy them, etc. that needs to be constantly refreshed. if it were my life on the line as a police officer, interacting with high risk people on a constant basis in sketchy situations, i would want to be at the top of my game
