The need for a living wage is actually a reflection on our political and economic environment right now. The cost of living has gone up, and people are beginning to realize that a lot of government spending is misused by corrupt politicians. I think that if the government is going to be there collecting my money, It should at least be helping people. That's why I'd rather see them creating jobs like when we built the highway system, it was huge boost to the economy and improved society at the same time. There are something like 60,000 structurally defiecent bridges in the country atm. That's a huge amount of work for all those porch monkeys to do. Cut the funding waaaaay back on welfare and use it to pay for labor and materials. Start employment by offering directly to people on welfare.
