also just to add on to this you will be expected to contribute more than you take out of the household if you're staying with this girl's family. If you're in BKK you may be getting paid a bit over the average for teaching English. Unfortunately I've never stayed there for any great lengths of time so I can't comment too much on the rental market etc. but it's a great city. You'll probably be looking to live somewhere outside the centre but the infrastructure (BTS) is great and very cheap. Maximum fare is about $1.20 from what I can remember
