/b/ I'm looking for a book basically it's about energy spheres that are created and freeze time inside, they are basically silver spheres from outside. has two major parts. cover is a futuristic jet fighter with a tree growing in the cockpit. seriously can't fucking find this book again.
>>684204455
Also Cobra is pretty good
>>684204763
Elaborate?
The Redwall series nigger its like lord or the rings but with animals BEST BOOKS EVER!!!
>>684205791
Watched the tv series back in the day, the books any good?

all of them are great, except for the 8th book. it takes place between books four and five and it's just... filler, doesnt really advance the plot. it's just about one of the main characters backstories. if you get to book four and dont like the idea of a story being told within a larger story then skip 8 altogether/read it out of order of chronological events.
>>684206076
Yes nigger The Long Patrol and Salamadastron i say and maybe Martain the Warrior!!!!
>>684204763
I have that on audio book. It's pretty good, but I think the 7 hours of underwater sounds went on a bit much.
>>684204125
related (through marriage) to Robert Heinlein. Excellent author
>>684204125
ASOIAF can go suck a dick
This shis is GOAT when it comes to books
This one is pure gold
>>684206772
Doesn't he always end his plots with some kind of magic that has nothing to do with the story, but is just there to end the book? Example: The two armies meet on the battlefield, the hero is about to kill the evil guy, and BAM! God smites everything, the end?
Classic nigger
>>684208056
Without trying to spoil anything there are books that end with something like what you describe, a "twist" if you will, but pretty much every time it leads to something in a different book. It's never just "I ran out of ideas so let's end it here" kinda thing. And there's never any real heroes or evil guys, just the story being told from one perspective most of the time.

The world comes up with some kind of zero point energy shit that basically eliminates threats. The power applied makes a bigger/smaller sphere. Bomb going to go off? Seal it in a sphere. Enemy soldier approaching? Seal him in a sphere. Whole navy coming at you? Use a really, really big sphere.
Basically the technology isn't quite understood and the spheres have a mirror finish and are permanent. It's a pretty drastic measure, and nobody knows what is happening inside the spheres, only that no energy can get in or out.
The whole first half of the book explores the idea and the increasing commonness and also the size of things that can be sphered. You know at first it's tiny things in a lab, soon it's a part of warfare, becomes common enough to be used for self defense and large enough to trap a whole fleet.
The second half
===========SPOILERS INCOMING=======
I hate to post if someone hasn't read it but the spheres start popping. The protagonist basically wakes up in his plane with a giant tree growing in the cockpit 30 years later and is the first person to figure out that the spheres pop. Science gets a lot more elaborate with the spheres now that it's known they are temporary, and they are used for new things (drop nuke, sphere up for explosion, sphere expires, sphere aka ship propelled with no damage, repeat) It goes into a pretty wild chain of events throughout history then and trying to save the human race.
It's not sphere by michale criton, it's not forever war, it's not seeds of time by kay kenyon (but that 's a great book as is anything by kenyon)
Jordan can't write women for shit, but this was an amazing series.

repeating plot snooze fest

Really enjoyed this and the book that follows it.
Sci-fi book that deals with humanity vs. an unknown alien race that is just as evolved as humans.
Gets a little slow in the middle but makes the ending great

>>684214438
Excellent book.
>all the Heinlein books but not a mention of this
I know it's not his best, but I think I got lucky by reading it when I was 14. The way it talked about how normal sexuality was, was pretty helpful at that age. And I think it helped me move me past alot of the "know one understands me" and "eveyone sucks" edgy teenage angst that everyone goes through.
