As animals, more young means a greater chance of one of them surviving, and the big ones have an even better chance to life. However, the preference for good colored foals is something what humans added to them, because good color foals sell better than shit color ones.

I'm FoalOut4, working on "Pwease Nu Huwt Babbehs" part 8. Fun fluffy fact some people don't seem to remember from fluffy canon, *all* of foals language skills, knowledge, etc, is pre-programmed and kicks in at different stages of their development. If a foal is raised in total isolation, it will still be able to speak it's pre-programmed language as it grows. They will also know something is "wrong" if they don't hear their mummah singing mummah songs to them, or if their see-pwaces don't work, or hear-pwaces aren't working. It's all programming.
