Write-in in presidential elections is unfeasible.

You'd need an enormous grassroots movement across the entire country to be able to even get people to KNOW they can write-in.

70% of people who will go vote will pick from what's on the ballot.

No, it's not.
Most people don't care about elections. That's the scary truth, and probably biggest problem with modern democracies worldwide.

Maybe, to some degree people identify as "democrat" or "republican" - but then again, this isn't very deep, and they will just go up, and vote for whoever democrat is gonna be on the ballot. If it's gonna be Hillary, those votes will go to Hillary.

That creates a problem - let's say 60% of the country wants a democrat president. 30% will pick Hillary, and 30% will write in Bernie. Remainder - 40% - will pick Trump. Trump wins, even though majority of the people didn't want him.

That shit already happened in UK not too long ago.

spotted the arrogant millennial with zero knowledge about economics... Let me break it down - people who work 40 hours for $7.25 are not inexperienced teenagers, they are adults. Making $7.25 an hour means you NEED welfare, food stamps, etc. And, welfare is paid by taxpayers - SO... jobs that pay $7.25 are essentially being subsidized by tax payers. How does it feel to pay for Walmart's and MacDonald's bottom line with your taxes? sooo advanced
>>
>>684049787
Except they didn't.

The reason it's a Ponzi scheme is because the current beneficiaries aren't just getting what they put into it, they're also getting what the next generation put into it, and the next. That's why there's nothing left. The Boomers have stolen the future of their children and grandchildren.

>>
>>684050006
That is not what socialism is, lmfao.

First of all, socialism is not necessarily realize by welfare. This chart ignores moden ideas like guaranteed income, where every citizen would get a guaranteed monthly income, skipping the problem. It would also remove problems of minimal wage, disability payments and free internships, since you would be able to more or less survive without a job. Inb4 parasites - homeless people in capitalism currently cost governments a shitton, because of having to police them, house them in jails or in hospitals, even ingoring charity money that is enough to keep them alive, but not enough to let them contribute to society in any way.

Letting them have a life and potentially contribute to economy sounds like a better solution.

And your capitalism chart ignores clear problem - push to lower the prices suggest cutting every possible expense, including worker's wages. This results in consumers getting less and less money to buy things with, which results in firms concentrating on producing goods cheaply in "cheap countries" and selling them in "rich countries", single handedly creating the "Third World countries".

Second, it also ignores that laws of supply and demand don't apply to things you need to live - people ALWAYS need food, medicine, housing, to some degree education, and won't ignore those things regardless of cost. This allows to drive up price of those things without limit - resulting e.g. in modern college costs in US going into multiple thousands of dollars.

So...

Argument one:
1. force companies to pay their employees more
2. which destroys their profit margin
3. ????
4. the companies surely won't increase the cost of their products to compensate!

You're stupid.

Argument two:
The corporations ARE made up of and owned by citizens. If you force those corporations (especially mom-and-pop shops and sole proprietorships) to pay a higher minimum wage then WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE IF THAT AMOUNT IS PAYED IN TAXES OR JUST PAID TO THE WORKERS? YOU'RE STILL TAKING THE MONEY FROM SOME AND FORCING THEM TO GIVE IT TO OTHERS.

You're stupid.

And greedy.

And an asshole.
>>
>>684050487
What about me who is the owner of a small construction business. If I start paying someone who is only just a helper $15 an hour that will mean that the guys who are doing the harder work like carpentry will only be making a few bucks more than their helper. Nobody will want to do a shit ton more work for only a couple bucks more than the guy who just helps them so I'll have to pay them more which means I'll have to charge the company that hires us more money. That means that company will have to charge whoever wants the job done and we already have enough problems with those people not having enough funding for the projects. That will mean less jobs coming up for that company to bid less jobs for us to work then slowly we might have to let people go because we don't have enough work to keep them.

hey, I work for a small business - we hire workers at $12 an hour, but it costs us about $40 and hour per worker after you consider taxes, workmans comp, insurance, etc. At $40 cost, raising our paid wages to $15 is only a 8% increase to our bottom line. This is nothing to pass on to our customers. Also higher prices means we could make more profit dollars, too.

1. The walmart heirs paid for this: http://crystalbridges.org/
2. walmart pays more than minimum wage
3. nobody is forcing people to buy from walmart- it's voluntary
4. the heirs of walmart are actually doing way more good for more people than you are by employing thousands of people and paying their salaries
5. you are flat out envious that someone has more money than you and you're a greedy little shit
>>
>>684052673
I was quoting the other retard. As a guy who currently works for Walmart, I know employers want to keep people as technically "part time."

The people at the top are almost always assholes and will always try to cut costs any way they can, which harms employees plenty.

But again, tell me why I should have to subsidize others' shitty live decisions via raised taxes?

Think you're just not that up to date on Ted Cruz's ideas, and what he's actually been saying he wants to implement.

Doesn't matter now, that moron will never be president.

Guess why they have to keep people at part time?

>it's because obamacare forces them to pay full-timers' healthcare insurance which means they don't have enough income to pay all of their employees to work full time

... You argument boils down to "capitalism won the Cold War", in all of those cases.

How about modern Sweden vs Greece? How's that for Socialism vs Capitalism?
>>
>>684053759
thats not relevant to the current political discussion. its like calling trump a fascist.
pretty much every country in europe has a socialized healthcare system and tuition-free education through college. they certainly arent all poor over there.

>>684052058
I dont believe it said welfare. Socialism does in fact give support to the poor and give them tax breaks.

This election "season" (you can't call it a season when it's the only fucking thing you hear about for over a year) has led me to wonder whether the illerminotty conspiracy fags are really all that crazy. If you think about it, it would be difficult to distinguish the recent state of the media from a conscious, orchestrated effort to put a TV-friendly hollow figurehead in the highest elected office.

Accuse you of what ? Please clarify. I stated that someone who smokes pot is just as likely to be successful as someone who doesn't. It's your choice not to smoke pot, and that's great. But that choice doesn't define you as a person. Why should smoking pot define a person ? I wasn't the first to bring this up, I just stated an opinion after reading an ignorent comment with an ignorant picture

Not the guy you're responding to, but:

As a very conservative guy when it comes to fiscal issues and somewhat liberal when it comes to social issues... I was slightly concerned about Ted Cruz embracing Kevin Swanson, the pastor who believed gays should be put to death.

also, your pic is wrong. Our currency is backed by the American economy...NO ECONOMIST EVER would suggest going back to the gold standard. Do your research, the gold standard is what made what would have been the 1930's "recession" a great depression... read a fucking book.

About 18 or 19 I believe is what a lot of them get paid at least here I probably shouldn't have used a couple since I didn't actually mean two it is just they way I talk. What stops me is one I need carpenters to do the work and two because I know I would be upset if I was before getting paid almost double my helper to only getting paid a few bucks more when they do twice the amount of work. Plus I still have the issue of having to make up all of my helpers $5 for every hour which is a good amount when you add up all their hours in a week.
>>
>>684054110
>they certainly arent all poor over there.
Every country in the EU is teetering on the brink of financial collapse, yes.

Think of someone who is up to their eyeballs in debt. They may be paying their rent for now and walking around Gucci hand bags but it's paid for with borrowed money. Sooner or later that money must be repaid.

That concerns me too.

But the correct answer is not to vote for a socialist or a corrupt politician or a jackass.

>they paid for one thing
Which doesn't change the fact that 90% of their money sits still and contributes nothing to US economy.
>walmart pays more than minimum wage
So? Still unlivable wages.
>nobody is forcing people to buy from walmart
Are you retarded? They're cheap, and people are poor.
>they're employing thousands of people
How is that good, exactly? Walmart still depends on being partially subsidized by government.
>you are envious
pffft, you wish. Rich people disgust me, if it was up to me walmart heirs would be hanging from a streetlamp and their money would go to something actually useful, like housing for the homeless and food for the poor.
>>
>>684053999
Actually, I've been employed by Walmart since way before Obamacare. I've been in different positions in Walmart throughout school. They've always wanted to keep people at part time. This isn't something new because of Obamacare.

Large companies ALWAYS try to cut costs any way possible. The people at the top simply don't give two fucks about the people at the bottom - making their life miserable to make a bit more in profit is perfectly fine with them.
>>

>voting for the lesser of two evils

You are part of the problem that will never be fixed in a two party system. Instead of being reasonable and making your own decisions you would rather settle with a candidate who refuses to own up to the fact that he made an unprofessional mistake and can't even justify his mistake with an intelligible argument. it's exactly the same as when Bernie Sanders blames the "privileged" rich people for the things that are happening to impoverished citizens and/or minorities.

Healthcare is a right, because right to live is a right. Right to healthcare is just extension of right to live.

Also, again, the very concept relies on absurd premises. Your employees getting sick are YOUR problem, paying their healthcare prevents that.

Also it's complete bullshit, everywhere all over the globe employees pay worker's health insurance and nothing is happening, why the fuck would it magically not work in USA?

typed this out once but it didn't seem to post so if you see this twice that is why.

I know that they will be upset because I would be annoyed at the fact I went from being paid nearly double what my helper makes they start off at $10 and most Carpenters here I think are about 18 or 19 to only making a little bit more when they still do twice as much work. I probably shouldn't have used a couple when I didn't actually mean two it is just the way I speak but whatever. And I still have the issue of marking up a helpers price up $5 an hour which is a lot when you total their hours up in the week.
