DnB influenced bass music, but nothing really intended for a dance floor. Tried to make a track that captured the sensation of a panic attack or a night terror or something. Moderate success.

same man, whats your fav by him?
>>683667350
shits really good actually
>>683667572
no worries still good, you'll get better at mastering with time
>>683667941
not him but what is mastering exactly?
how do you do it?
>>683668297
I'm by no means an expert but if you listen to his track, the snare is really loud on the "highs", so what you could do is lower the high notes with some sort of equalizer
>>683652275
hey if you're not busy check out the mixes me and my boy threw together, we plan on producing but only have mixed up at the moment but if you have a chance let me know what you think all criticism is good

FUCKING LIT !!!
>>683668297
i realize how stupid i sound and how bad i am at explaining, you should prob google a better explanation
I'd say mastering is changing the volume of every sound in the song and adjusting the high and low tones

yeah you know sometimes he steps out of line and you just gotta remind him who daddy is jah feel
>>683669223
well if you're correct i take almost as much time doing that as making the mix itself, so that'd be cool.
i figured it be something way more detailed or complicated but hey maybe it is what do we know
>>683668552
Yup its fucking lit boys keep it up
>>683652275
I'm looking for bands or songs that sound similar to Weezer, Cage The Elephant, Death From Above 1979, Our Lady Peace, or Wintersleep.

>>683669223
I used to produce music, kind of semi-professionally and the best way to explain mastering is...
Giving each sound it's own 'space', thus reducing muddiness of the overall sound. The whole process involves giving space to sound, maximising, normalising, and balancing sounds. By 'giving space', people mean making sure frequencies of the sound do not clash (overlap) with other sounds in your production.
As simple as it sounds, it's VERY difficult to do right and most artists source their mastering externally.
>>683669615
thanks dawg
>>683669634
Yo that's actually fire, nice find.
>>683669737

crywolf is a fucking legend.
https://soundcloud.com/crywolf/the-moon-is-falling-down

>>683669737
I figured I'd expand a little as to why it's so difficult.
The four main components are, like I said, giving space, maximising, normalising and balancing each sound. Doing each of these individually is quite easy, but doing them together and having the end result sound good is incredibly difficult.
For example, giving space to let's say a snare may diminish the sound, so then you want to maximise the sound but at the same time need to normalise it so that it doesn't sound fucked up - then you have to balance it with your mix so that it doesn't sound out of place.
Now imagine doing that with every single sound in your mix, and with each new sound you work on, you have to keep in mind each sound prior thus reducing your workable frequency range.
Honestly the most tedious part of production.

Sure, but then again, get good at anything and you can make good money.
I wouldn't say it's necessarily difficult, if anything it just requires good attention to detail and organisational skills. It's more tedious than difficult.
