If you took that picture... Really amazing
Venus transit
Mercury transit on monday
And I've only got a spotting scope so looks like OP# will have to post the pics for us to fap over

fake, but not too gay
An Neptunian orbiter would be nice to have. Cassini at Saturn has been fantastic.

Gentlemen, I really like this thread. Thank you. :)
Gravity strength distribution across the earth surface
>>683332041
It's still cool bro. Different pictures offer different perspectives of the object. Thanks for sharing

uughh misgendering shitlord! I'm an attack helicopter who likes astronomy
more saturn

My apologies. Are you a male attack helicopter? If you aren't show your rotors or gtfo. :P

Is that aurora on jupiter?

It actually quite good !
Keep the good job anon !
Soviet lander with basically the only picture from the surface of Venus.
>>683333722
I have to admit, we could expect a death ray coming out of this, Starkiller base style.
>>683333932
Indeed !
Anything with an atmosphere and a magnetic field has aurora in the solar system.

Make the Milky Way Great Again
Io, read up about the Io flux torus and the Io flux tube, also Decametric emissions you can pick up on earth.. that'll keep you busy for a few nightrs ;D
Also NASA Radio Jove. Inspried me to build a Dual dipole array in the attept to pick the DAM emissions up.. great fun.
>>683333471
This is fucking cool

best theory i've heard is the storm is buffeted such that it resonates into the hexogonal shape.

thanks bro, appreciate it, was pretty hard to find that damn thing, rotating the telescope, seeing only on the laggy stream on my laptop
If there was a planet with intelligent life out with that had planetary rings like Saturn, how would that affect the pioneering for space travel?
I always wondered this.
Europa
>>683330439
So i assume it would be easily visible to the eye from the moon right.

>even after you say it's not a planet, it still loves you.
any of you fags have any tips for getting a picture of mercury passing in front of the sun tomorrow ?
>>683333628
Europa fucked with Jupiter and got cut up.
>>683337639
look up the methods of using a piece of card in front of the binoculars/telescope to project an image of the sun
>>683337639
Yes, stare directly into the sun without protection for at least 10 minutes to focus your eyes on the planet, then snap the pic
i take this pic of jupiter from a cellphone
>>683337861
smartphone******
shieeeeeet
>>683337791
totaly this
>>683337790
but i want to take a picture, i just need some cheap available way to control attenuation, prob try different thicknesses of paper or something
>>683335310
This is how I feel about some constellations.
>THERE'S NOT EVEN A FUCKING STAR AT THAT CORNER!!!! Use your imagination NO!
>>683337664
that is a nice shot
looks like the moon
>>683337639
Look directly into your telescope first to eyeball where and when to frame your shot. It'll take your eyes a moment to adjust to the brightness (and it might hurt a little), but keep them open and you'll be able to see the disk.
Then you want to set up a series of filters -- try them in front of the telescope, eyeballing the sun through the telescope with each as you figure out which combination blocks the background sky and corona the best.
cont.
>>683335492
>>683336550
