Go to a dentist or mouth hygienist that can clear away the plaque. Then start brushing after breakfast and before going to bed, every single day without exception.

Floss, use triangular toothpicks and use those little brushes you can stick between your teeth. After 6 months, go to the dentist/mouth hygienist again.

Brush with your toothbrush diagonally on your gums. Don't move the brush large distances. Keep it in place and wiggle so the brush can work its way to the area between the teeth and gums. You can also use an electric toothbrush. If you do, leave the in place on a tooth (perpendicular, not diagonal) for a few seconds, before moving on to the next one. If you cannot reach your rear teeth, try to keep your mouth more closed so the bones get out of the way.

I've been in a pretty bad depressive slump for a long time and it's extremely easy to not do it when I'm lying in bed so often doing nothing and feeling like a waste. Especially after I haven't done it for a while and I start to stop giving a shit even more.
