Hey /b/
Help me build a Gaming PC.
I'm looking for something that will consistently run new releases on medium/high settings for the next 3-5 years.
My price range is up to about $1500.

>>

>gtx 970

Wait for Pascal OP. GTX 1070.
>>
>>683074716
Upgraded a bit on what you wrote because of the CyberPowerPC mother's day sale, and added mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
Came out to $1292
Bought and paid for.
>>
i think the 1080 will also be in his price range too
>>
>>683074809
I asked my friend if I should wait, but he said it would be more than I need at the moment.
>>
Get a mac
>>
>>683075023
Oh,
I wanted to keep this computer for at least a year before it goes out of style.
>>
>>683071445
those computer that are pre built in shop and best fam op, you just buy the box and it just werkz, like a mac.
>>
>>683075130
You're such a faggot
>>
>>683074986
Dude, get a 1070. Literally no reSon not to as it is the same price as a retail 970, and packs a hell of a lot more preformance.
>>
>>683074986
Wait until it's out anyway and then buy the GTX 970 when the price is down due to it no longer being top of the line.
>>
>>683071445
R9 380 4GB fag here.

Enjoying them higher FPS and real Vulkan/DX12 support. Nvidia matters only if you want long-term drivers support or intend to run Linux (though soon the latter won't be the case).

this you?

Isn't this a photo from how Applecucks entertain themselves while in line, waiting for their 1000-1500$ Intel Atom macbook airs?
>>

No, I thought this was a photo of you, fag
>>
Literally just built my computer today. This is what i got:

i7 6700k
16GB 3200mhz Corsair ram
250 GB Samsung SSD
1TB Western Digital HDD
Asus Z170-A
EVGA 960 GTX 4GB SSC

All of that should run you less than $1000, but dont forget the CPU fan. Since you have a higher budget I would recommend a larger SSD and better GPU. The 1070 will be a little less than $400 when it comes out, and the 970 right now is like $300 for the SSC EVGA version.

You dont need a lot of fans either. I have 2 case fans, 2 mounted GPU fans and the CPU fan and I idle at like 35* C

Nice bait
>>
I would advice:
>4790k or 6700k
>Z97/Z170 board (msi or asus perf. Do not go for asrock)
>16-32gb ddr3/4 2600mhz corsair or kingston
>gold or platinum 85+ efficiency 750+w psu(antec earthwatts)
>m.2 ssd 240gb
>1-2tb hdd
>gfx go for 970gtx
>for case go something bigger than regular atx with water cooling support built in.

If you do not have peripherals they should fit in the budget also.
>>
>>683077518
bs. most games today wouldn't run on ultra with a 2gb gpu.

and if you buy a vr set for gaming, even a single 960 isn't enough.
>>
On that note, can't i just buy one of those prebuilt 500 dollar gaming pcs that already has windows license and everything then add a better graphics card if i want or processor since those are like the only 2 fuckin things that seem to matter anyway?
>>
>>683078690

Patch : 1,370€ -> 1,564USD
>>
>>683078899
well I mean no matter what you're still paying for the OS unless its actually installing it which would be a problem for you

Not really. Those package computers are cheap because they use cheap everything. Often their motherboards leave little to no room for processor upgrades and you'd also need a bigger PSU if you go changing the GPU. Also the motherboard may not even support a decent GPU due to being a cheap shit and not having the right slots.

You're better off getting help from LinusTechTips forum than here OP
>>
>>683079160
Would you say cyberpowerpc also falls under cheap shit category?
>>
Find a guide online. They tell you everything and the capabilities, plus price ranges
>>
>>683079293
They seem surprisingly decent actually. But you'd still be better off buying the parts separately. You're just paying extra for getting a pre-built and for the parts that you'd go changing anyway.

>>683079293
ok lets give u a lesson on pre builts

they are all the same as far as cheap ghoes cause literally only as cheap as the build is, most pre build companies and resell sites all haver decent pre builts, you have to know what you're looking for, or build your self aND save between 100-200$ not sure what the savings translate to in USD ide assume around 75-150$

>You're just paying extra for getting a pre-built and for the parts that you'd go changing anyway.
Ah, didn't notice you can upgrade the parts to your liking in those package deals. You're still paying a little extra for not building it yourself though. But if you do go for a prebuilt, you'll need a bigger PSU also, keep that in mind when choosing the parts. Those cheap ones only have a 350W PSU. You'll be needing around 550-650 with a proper GPU.
>>
>>683079838
Thanks for advice, 75 dollars isn't that big of a difference but i'll keep it in mind. Debating on pre-built or building one, just dont feel like waiting for the parts to take weeks to come and putting them together
>>
>>683080254
why wouldn't he just spend more to get a better pre built if hes planning on it anyway since prebuilts only charge the fee of the fct its a pre built with very minor up market on the parts and more for the work put in to building the thing.
>>
>>683080415
what I did was I started with a decent pre built and as parts start to become out dated or shit starts bottlenecking ill replace/upgrade
>>
>>683080582
i didn't realize what that was at first.
<3
>>
>>683071445
Just buy a PS4, fucking nerd.
>>
>>683080582
Wut? Did I say he shouldn't spend more? That's what he was saying he was going to do anyway.
>>
>>683080711
I guess i'm not a real gamer but i don't care much for the newest games anyway, any new games coming out i want i'd just get for my ps4. I kinda just want to play gta 4, fallout nv and games from like 2008-2011. Modern is secondary.
