The market is diversifying - buy and hold strategies inevitably under perform and people always cherry pick stocks as good examples in retrospect. Markets down 7+ days in a row = BUY ETFs

If market isn't trending (is moving both up and down) then you don't take part. Wait it out. Sometimes for months.
