Yea the temptation is always there. I normally smoke the shittier buds and save the best ones for last. In my experience it's fine to skip the cure. I smoke the shittier buds first so by the time I'm on to the dank of the dank it's decent.

I plan on making sift hash one of these days with a couple of fast finishing auto flowering plants. Still undecided as to what strain, probably some lowryder strain so that'd allow me to skip the drying and curing process and replace it with just a week of drying it a little more than normal.
