I've taken one DMARD (Methotrexate) and it makes you feel like utter shit for 3-4 days, and you take it weekly.

It was basically massive nausea vs skin condition so I went with the latter. You also can't drink any alcohol which isn't that big a deal, but enough to be a pisser.

In terms of creams, they mostly don't work apart from steroid creams, which you can't take long-term. There's other options, but I've pretty much given up on it at this point.

You try so much shit and nothing works, which kills motivation to try other shit.

If I could give one bit of advice to someone who's just starting with Psoriasis: Keep trying new shit. Don't get into the bad habit of not doing anything like I have.

There are parts, like the palms of my hands, where it's a continual battle. I was almost like OP's picture at one point, and I couldn't open my hands otherwise the skin would tear and bleed.

You're not supposed to drink if you have psoriasis anyway regardless of whether you're taking medication considering any alcohol consumption makes it worse. That anxiety gets to me sometimes and causes flareups.

Man, I feel your pain. I developed acute eczema while I was bar tending. It was awful. It started on the skin between my fingers (just the sides of them), then gradually spread down across my palm to my wrist, eventually on both hands. I tried everything I could think of/read on the internet to fix it; spend the better part of a year showering with kitchen gloves on since any contact with water caused to to instantly start burning and itching. Fortunately it eventually cleared up on its own, after nearly two years. It was the worst health issue I've ever had, and has fortunately not reoccurred in the last 4 years.

I will say, however, that running hot water over the eczema was easily the most incredibly pleasurable feeling I've ever had. Sort of like itching a mosquito bite on the bottom of your foot. It itches and tickles and tingles and feels so good and you know you should stop because you're making it worse but it's the most incredible feeling.
