What's your opinion about public education and specifically, about public universities?
>>
Theyre both sin
>>
>>681716503

>>
>>681716565
They steal from the taxed; suicide costs $, they could literally b forcing sum1 to live
>>
>>681716825
> steal
> what is income redistribution

don't you think that education for everyone is better for the society?
>>
Public education is good. Educated tax payers statistically pay more. Invest in your citizens and they'll invest back into the system.

As opposed to what currently happens.
>>
Of course education is better for everyone, when it's done not making slaves
don't u believe in RIGHTS?
i bet uve never made anythig in ur life
>>
Architecture must currently b publicised because income is so low, & it's a necessary field for growth
>>
in recent years its all become shit. theres literally no good place to educate your kids. Public education is retardedly soft cause they prefer to punish teachers instead of students to avoid dealing with complaining parents, private religious schools tend to be shit with education and push the religious rhetoric too hard, and secular private schools are absurdly expensive for average families to afford. Home schooling isnt an option cause kids end up being socially stunted retards.
>>
>>681718462
I agree
>>
>>681718462
OP here, I have to agree
Still, I found public education the "less harmful" of all the options.

It is more complex and complicated for kids and initial education though..
>>
>>681718634
Actually, i didnt read the end of ur post, children should go straight intocollege from reading/writing & arithmetic
>>
>>681718795

Governments should let parents decide where their kid goes AND still pay for it. Instead of dropping responsibility entirely if they don't go to public school. I guarantee you you'd see an improvement in education in students and educational facilities.

School: the most convenient system that exists solely to marginalize young people into categories such as social class, intelligent, athletic.

University: Scam, that exists to oppress the poor, less motivated, and stupid even further. The students there turn either into Wagies or Boss Cucks. non of which usually turn out genuinely "successful", unless you go to an IV college or learn a certain trade.

It's all a product of social engineering. you may learn something, but that was never the point to begin with...
>>

i would have agreed with you for a long time, but my GF is a public junior high teacher, so i get a bit of an inside view of where the system is heading, and now i dont know man. Im fuckin 28 and its not the same system it was when i was a kid. It caters so much more to the parents now, to the point of absurdity. Teachers arent allowed to fail kids anymore, teachers arent allowed to yell at kids, or call them out on shit like behavior or poor work in front of other kids, as this is "corporal punishment". Hell, if an "emotionally disturbed" child, which there are more and more of, decided to flip a shit and start beating a teacher, the teachers not allowed to defend herself. And this is not even touching upon the failures of common core and shit like the singapore math initiative. The list goes on and on, and the harm it does to these kids ego and intellect is incalculable.
>>
>>681719343
of course university does not guarantee anything, and you can be a fucking genious without actually going to it

but how many genious are like these ? You can count them with your finger hands..

on the other side, while not making you a genious, you will be better for society and profitable for companies if you study in the university.

It is not the perfect solution, but studying really worths it.

There are some exceptions, I think IT its a branch where you can get excellent results beign autodidact, but it is not the norm
>>
Universities should be publicly funded. I'm a conservative, but I believe that if you work hard enough to get into a college, you shouldn't be burdened with 50k in debt on the other side. Also, it just makes sense to invest in people from our own nation filling jobs that require higher education degrees.
>>
>>681718997
oh sure, you got tenure. they cant fire you. they still make your life a living hell though. Letters in your files, shitty schedules, shitty kids.
>>
>>681719406
Ok let's do away with public universities and see how much GDP a largely uneducated public will produce
>>
>>681719343
Alternative way at looking at it from the non-pussy viewpoint: separates weak from strong, smart from stupid. In no way does the school system disadvantage any certain group of people unless you're a fucking dumbass, in which case just get a trade and stop whining.

That being said, modern schools are the biggest indoctrination centres the world has ever seen. Complete "safe spaces" where free speech is not only silenced, but threatened with expulsion.

On one hand yes, but on the other hand, theres a very specific issue in public education that stems from the fact that its run by politicians. The reason its the way it is now is because if you make a kid feel like shit, they complain to mommy and daddy. mommy and daddy complain to the teacher. Teacher says the kid was a shit, they complain to the principle. Principle says the kid was a shit, they complain to the superintendent. Superintendent says the kid was a shit, they complain to the head of the department of ed, who happens to be the mayor (fucking deblasio in our case). The mayor wants the votes, so he appeases the parents by cracking down on the superintendent and threatening disciplinary action, who does the same to the principle, who does the same to the teacher.
Its all cause of the politics

Thing is, its a matter of how a government system is set up. The only way this would change is if there was legislature to take the education system out of the hands of politicians and put it into the hands of senior academics. > This man does a job for a day without having to live with the economic, health, and status implications that come with the job and pretends to tell me he knows something about their lives? His entire premise is bogus. But, then, I have an education and critical thinking skills that prevent me from accepting such a facile assessment. You may be able to tell me about the mechanics of the job, but unless you live the job, you can't tell me anything about these people's lives or satisfaction with their lives. So please keep to what you know and avoid such speculation.

pretty much this.

Private Catholics schools are by far superior. You do realize some smart people send their children to these schools because they know they're better than public even though they're not Catholic. Look at the college graduation rates of kids that went to Catholic school vs public. I took religious at private school and I'd much rather have that than teachers that can't keep control of their classes nor teach. Private religious schools have the highest testing scores, most disciplined students thus having the highest college graduation rates.

Learn Logistics, too. Get a job in a warehouse and learn what it takes to get goods from here to there. Commerce is a broad field. Pick a part of it that you can get into, then do that. Do that after school and during the summers. Get in the right place and they might even help pay for your schooling. Imagine getting your degree and doing it nearly or completely debt-free and walking into that warehouse as the Boss.

School bus driver here, I drive for a company that has the bus contract for a large, wealthy suburb of a city in the Midwest

Quality of the public schools varies wildly. Property taxes here are super high so tons of money gets funneled into the school system.

Sports is the #1 priority, especially football. The teachers' unions here are very powerful so most teacher salaries average 65 grand a year or more.

AMA if anyone's interested.
