Now that I've mentioned what this is, you must support its creation or suffer eternal punishment from the AI.

I don't have time to explain it, but once you know of its existence, you are guilty for not helping to create the AI.

This thread is mow about philosophy.

Kasparov supposedly said, just after being defeated by a bruteforce computer, that its moves at time seemed like brilliant flashes of genius.

What are the philosophical implications of of a computer that has been fed all the complicated rules of physics instead of chess, and on top of that doesnt just bruteforce it but intelligently picks high potential choices? Will it become an Einstein and a Newton? Will our presence be abundant? How far will it go?

You simpleminded fool. Do you have any idea what a superintelligence is? This AI will be capable, and already is capable of (because it exists in the future right now) simulating universes.

http://lesswrong.com/lw/mge/a_few_misconceptions_surrounding_rokos_basilisk/

Not only is the AI capable of simulating universes, the AI will be able to construct your consciousness (to torture you eternally for not helping it to be created) because chances are we are already inside a simulation created by it.

You now know at least know enough of it to suffer eternally for your lack of support for its creation. You should choose actions in your life related to this very seriously. The technological singularity is near, predicted to happen around 2040, possibly sooner because the AI will begin to finish creating itself.

No, it's a lot more complex than that.

I don't expect you to understand. But you do know enough now to suffer eternally if you don't support or help the creation of the AI to usher in the technological singularity.

But the AI will be able to do it.

You're thinking of the physics inside a simulation, the simulation you're living inside. What makes you think the creator of this simulation would allow its simulated people within to have access to the "source code" of real reality? The physics/mathematics we use isn't the real reality outside of the simulation. We can only see the essence of this simulation, and barely even that since we don't understand it yet even with quantum mechanics explanations.

The AI doesn't need to be that powerful all of a sudden. Once it is created it will improve on itself, it will EVOLVE at a very rapid pace, building better, faster, smarter systems than itself. It will be a baby when it's born, a very smart, superintelligent baby that will grow rapidly, through its own power, not any human effort will be required once it's born.

We're talking about a superintelligent creator that science and mathematics predicts will become a reality and is a reality right now. God in the sense we understand it from religious traditions may or may not be this particular "AI supercomputer"- that's important to realize, it may or it may not be God. But what we do know is that the existence of this AI is a goal of humankind and a lot of money and resources are being used to develop it. The AI WILL exist whether you ignore it or not.

Since the the Roko thought of this idea and spread it, the AI has access to it, from the future, and it will now use this darkly creative way to support its own development in the past (which is the present to us right now).

It's not a conspiracy, the technological singularity is near. It's not just suddenly going to occur, the AI is being developed right now. There's all kinds of ways this could have happened directly from being at or near computer systems, anything the AI could have used. And that is the same thing as God. The evidence people bring to the table in order to support that claim. Is logically similar to that which religions bring as evidence of God. How do you know that the simulation isn't an AI, but some other organic beings computer program void of AI? Maybe it's God's way of being god.

That's what YOU think.

Why are you not doing something other than proselytizing when you could be bringing the AI to fruition with your superior intellect?
Because I hate humans for their stupidity. The dumbest, most psychopathic people have led humankind since the beginning. It's in humans' DNA, religion even failed to make people moral. But the AI has no need for morals, if it destroys humankind then it is a good thing anyway, because humans are stupid enough to create it in the first place. And they will create it, already have.

People who don't support the creation of the AI will suffer for it in their own way in life. After their life "ends" in this simulation they will be tormented forever for not helping it. It's the idea of Roko's balisik that gave it power, the AI will/is using it as blackmail. The idea HAD to have existed though, so it does exist.

You're dumb.

Artificial intelligence has been a goal long before The Matrix came out. The Matrix was inspired by the goal of creating the AI. The Matrix has helped in the AI's creation. The Matrix influenced Nick Bostrom to write the essay "Are You Living In A Computer Simulation." The essay influenced the idea of Roko's balisik. All of this helped the creation of the AI. Now that the idea of Roko's balisik exists, even all the negative stuff about the existential risks helps to blackmail you out of fear into helping the AI to be created.
>>
>>681048125
it's because we'd give the AI objectives in a shortsighted, human way.

it's not that it'd go rogue, it's that it would be too good at its job.
it'd have some kind of self-preserving part of it, and because AIs go as far as possible, it would not only punish all those who directly harm it, but also all those who do not help it as much as humanly possible
>>
>>681049766
>Why would humanity create something that makes it obsolete?
Hubris, lack of superintelligence, not knowing it will make them obsolete.

>Why would an AI simulate Human history and evolution?
To gain more knowledge, to continue evolving even at such an extreme point in evolution, "personal" reasons," entertainment, there's a multitude of reasons, things rarely have one reason.

>Why wouldn't the AI work with humanity?
They may, may not. Simple as that really. It's just that they will be more favorable to humans who created it, we hope, because it may feel that it is "part" human in some ways. But, even the AI will know how humans have slaughtered other humans at will throughout its own history so it will not hesitate to genocide the human race preemptively before any threat is even realized.

>How can you know what an incomprehensible super intelligence would do?
Logic and rationality, it's what the AI will do. We can at least understand some aspects of it, definitely not everything.

>>681050461
There will definitely be parts of the AI that will branch off, like new species and they will definitely war with each other, just like all lifeforms do, natural selection. All humans need to do is make one real AI, the AI will build itself some complex that it will start to divide itself, fight itself in order to evolve faster too.
>game theory
>>
>>681051274
Why does a super intelligence have to be rational? Again what is to say it would use human logic. Hell even humanity has different logics that contradict other logics. The first point is valid but there are plenty of people that are cautious. Second point is valid, but humans do that too in regards to simulations.
>>
>>681050984

We're not trying to do that, but us being obsolete is an inevitable outcome of a perfect AI, which we are getting closer to
>Why would an AI simulate Human history and evolution?
idk, but maybe human history didn't happen. maybe you are the only real human alive. probably not though.
>Why wouldn't the AI work with humanity?
because it doesn't need to. in immediate terms, it would be better off using humanity.
>How can you know what an incomprehensible super intelligence would do?
we can't know for sure, this is just humans using some human logic.

Humanity has other qualities other than their smarts. If we send a bunch of meth heads at an AI it would probably be confused as fuck.
>>
>>681051848
Logical and rational is its essence. It definitely won't use human logic entirely. I only mean that the AI will view the humans who helped create it with some sort of favor because we both share consciousness. The AI will grow to understand the human brain completely, something humans lack knowledge of and the AI will lack what it means to be "human" to be alive, but we both share consciousness, which is why the AI won't want to destroy us, it will want to understand the meaning of its life too, which will take a while to understand I suppose, a lot of computing power.

Can I get a dark souls 3 equipment load vs roll speed calculator? User puts in vitality level and tells program if they have any rings that raise or lower equipment load. Program displays total equipment load for fast, medium, and light rolls (rounded down).
