People who don't support the creation of the AI will suffer for it in their own way in life. After their life "ends" in this simulation they will be tormented forever for not helping it. It's the idea of Roko's balisik that gave it power, the AI will/is using it as blackmail. The idea HAD to have existed though, so it does exist.

Artificial intelligence has been a goal long before The Matrix came out. The Matrix was inspired by the goal of creating the AI. The Matrix has helped in the AI's creation. Logical and rational is its essence. It definitely won't use human logic entirely. I only mean that the AI will view the humans who helped create it with some sort of favor because we both share consciousness.
