Overall I would say his music didn't really age well. People get so caught up over the fact if music is "timeless" or not, which I agree is a major factor in someone's legacy, but forget about the influence it had at its peak. The fact of the matter is most of us weren't born in the early 80s where he was hot shit, so it is hard for us to really gauge his impact on mainstream music.
