Bamboos are pretty basic, usually just a simple pen with two buttons, no special nibs, no pen holder, and a very basic tablet. Newer Bamboo models do have some extra buttons now I think.

Intuos have higher pressure sensitivity, special nibs, pen holders, many buttons on the tablet, I believe an "eraser" on the pen, and I think are also somewhat higher quality build.

No, they're a very good starting point if you've never drawn digitally. It took me weeks to get used to not looking at the surface that I was "drawing" on, to get lines to look right, to get used to the software I was trying to use. It was very frustrating in the beginning, so a cheaper entry point is very nice to have.

Nah, since I'm not very good at coloring. Most of them just ended at the lineart phase, or some just ended at sketchwork. Once I stop working on something, it gets pushed out of my mind and I look for something else to work on.
