I work in Rockstars storyboard department room and it's currently being set in Tokyo, Japan. We've already sent people there to take reference shots (as per the recent leak). The map is currently done design wise and it's almost triple the size of current GTAV. The next GTA game should be set in a faux-Canada open world this time around. GTA has already done New York several times over, London, Miami, LA. The only other place is maybe Vegas or a bullshitty Washington or something.

I don't think you understand how excited Rockstar got with the freedom people felt in gtao.
They've given people this huge sandbox to play with and people went nuts.
They aren't reversing course on that.
If anything you can expect more wide open spaces and areas that look like they're clearly set up to be played in and. It related to whatever the actual story is in single player.
