When you are falling you are effective in zero G pushing off it would be like pushing off another skydiver. Technically speaking it would slow you down a very tiny amount since both of you apply reaction forces to each other, but this if you were falling at terminal velocity (which you would be if you jumped near the top) there would be nowhere near enough air resistance on the desk. Even if there was you would have to create a instantaneous impulse force equal to your total kinetic energy at that point which would be the same as hitting the ground anyway.
