90% Isopropyl alcohol should work.
Wet the wick too, to prime it.
I live in a country where lighter fluid is practically non-existent.

Don't use ethanol, evaporates too fast, high boiling petroleum should work. Normal car fuel might have a too high vapor pressure as well

Just get some lighter gasoline and fill it up - it doesnt even have to be Zippo brand- I've found that any cheap lighter gasoline (like this one in the pic which cost less than 4 dollars) works just as well as Zippo gasoline.

You can use lamp oil - it dries out quite a bit faster and burns a little worse but it definatly works. (Also gives a bit of weird whiff of the cig at first it you use it for lighting cigs)
