I'd agree with you about other genres lacking intensity, but as someone who makes his living playing metal, imo pure bm is one of the most two-dimensional subgenres so I don't get how you wouldn't get bored of that as well. The vast majority of it is just a continuous blastbeat over 1 or 2 riffs. Lots of lazy songwriting. Whenever a bm band tries something new, they usually get a lot of shit for it from the "true" community.

I do like the style elements it uses to create atmosphere btw, but I think it's an incomplete genre without hybridization. I feel the same about thrash.
