ITT: Improvements & changes you want to see in The Elder Scrolls VI: Hammerfell

>Pirates doing pirate things dynamically based on their AI (raiding etc), i.e not just because the player entered the area/triggered an event
>The world should level around the player more, it's not fair or fun to meet an enemy with more health or better gear than the player.
>There's currently so many magic schools that it just complicates things, they should be reduced. We really only need two schools, Good and Bad (damage & healing)
>It can be hard to remember the NPCs because there's just soo many of them in the towns/cities. They should reduce the number of NPCs in settlements and instead add more bandits to caves to make up for it.
>Racial/gender bias could be reduced, if a player plays as a Redguard, Khajiit, Argonian or female they could get extra stats at the start for checking their privilege
>>

Bullshit. Knowing you've wandered in to a dangerous place where nearly any fight will be a desperate struggle to stay alive is exhilirating. Scaled enemies make every encounter exactly the same, and BORING.

sick of bethesda's faggot questing system, it's the same shit after 5 quests and you just do it over and over again at varying difficulties. the story is lackluster as hell and can keep me interested for about 10 hours of gameplay until it starts feeling repetitive and dull - just like fallout 4.

someone needs to step up their programming skills and offer an rpg with dynamic questing and outcomes. one where your story quest has a different outcome than everyone else's. no two games would hopefully end the same way.

and come up with some new fucking quests for christs sake, kill this, collect that, follow this guy, fucking kill me already, christ. offer something more entertaining especially if you have a dynamic questing system, and more dialogue options.

rpgs and games in general today are just dumb for dumb people who play on consoles and it pisses me off

Why do you guys think itd be a singular area?

Certainly theyd be able to fit enough land to include 2 or 3 regions

And since tamriel has been scaled down from its original soze of over a million sq miles in arena to about 20 each region its definitely possible thatd we maybe see the entire continent for once

Mount & Blade Warband does this, especially with the Floris mod enabled.

In my game Lord Etrosq completely fucked over my House, and fractured it completely in two by getting the King to exile most of the men, while in my friends game Etrosq isnt even a player and got annihilated early on and pretty much rides around with a couple knights stealing sheep and his main enemy is my House who keeps fucking him over with the King and a psychotic lord named Turegor from an entirely different kingdom that just wants to brawl and kill people.

The more mods you stack and install the more dynamic the games get and mods are heavily heavily encouraged and supported by the game devs.

Invincible NPCs (or more often, temporarily invincible ones) are a fair price to pay for the radiant system that allows almost anyone else to die anywhere.
More choice in general would be good though. And the choices you make coming back to you in game and effecting what you can do later on. You can still roleplay in TES games but you have to keep your choices consistent and imagine a little. The storylines and wolrd just never really carry it for me alone.

I welcome the discussion on TES6 but is the stuff in the OP b8? It sounds like what a normie fuckwit might say. Other than the first point. But actually, although you might not notice it, NPCs to an extent do follow a routine when you aren't around in Skyrim, and the ones that travel between places can even die when you haven't entered the area yet. But yeah, things moving more in game when you aren't necceserily there would be good. Especially supposed time limits on things really having time limits...

I'd like dungeons to not have an exit at the end
or if they do, then you should be able to enter it from either side

light items/magic should be meaningful
tombs that have been sealed for thousands of years shouldn't have fist sized wax candles burning every where
caves shouldn't have skylights every ~10m

you should either be able to have multiple companions or sane story reasons why certain companions won't travel with other companions
>I won't be seen with a Khaijit
>that asshole with you killed my mother

dynamic economics
>a city with a mine should either buy ore for next to nothing, or not buy it at all
>a city with a substantial smithing district should pay top price for ingots but not buy finished armor and/or weapons
>large cities should always have a demand for food items, farms shouldn't

This. Also that's the reason why FO3 succeeded: one really good main quest and 9 original and different side quests. If you want to see the rest of the map, go and explore it by yourself, don't expect the game to lead you anywhere (just like real life).
>>

This.

At the very least I hope to fuck they change the combat system so you can CANCEL THE SWING OF A FUCKING SWORD. It's so shit that you have to follow through with every swing. It changes the game so much using a mod that allows you and NPCs to do that. Doesn't make it exactly like real swordfighting where people handle it nimbly, but it allows for more fast paced combat, more strategy when you and NPCs can move to a block mid swing, and stops needless follower deaths.

No its not good

It's a nice idea and things like this are great for mmos in which they heighten immersion but for a single player game it's just bad game design
If it happens to often it gets old quickly and bores out and if it happens only few times while you play through the game you would be better off just to make few different well worked out events that trigger at a specific point since you can better weave them into the story of the world

GUYS.
I'm doing a playthrough at the moment and enjoying it, but I think I'm ready to contract lycanthropsy(I cant spell).
I have moonlight essentials downloaded, so does anyone have any interesting ways to contract lycanthropsy? Waiting on a gibbering lunatic to spawn is too tedious, plus I've never actually had one infect me, so I'm not even sure how it works, and I don't want to just enable it in the menu, cause there's no plot in that.
Pic is my sexually absent cutie.

it's more of an issue of what sort of game are you trying to make: a sandbox, or scripted
Bethesda has a case of not deciding, and fucking up because of it

>>678174969
For sure I would like a living world in that unexpected things happen, as I said I think it's a nice idea
Thats the reason I love pen and paper
But in a videogame you can't have really unexpected dynamically event's since we don't have AI's that could create them

You have pretty much to choose between 2 options, there may be mix forms but they not only combine the good things but the drawbacks too :

1:
Well written events that happen only one time, you could write many of these and let them trigger more or less random but this would lower their quality since they can't really weaved into the story

2:
X bandits attack always the same way all 5 minutes style encounters that bore pretty quickly

And with these options I would go for the well written story anytime, at least the game will be great for one playthroug

If the story is more of a tree than a line that's a great thing tho - even if it needs far more work for the devs
>>
>>678175146

Make it so there are safe and dangerous areas

When you are low-level and weak you need to stay by the cities and roads or you will probably get rekt, later on you can go into the wilderness, but there is still a dangerous area where the main enemy has their stronghold.

indie games (dwarf fortress comes to mind) already do that
i suspect the reason why big companies don't do that, is because everyone gets used to what works in small scale games, and then failing to switch to more scalable solutions when trying to make something ambitious enough, that it would benefit from them

>the empires forces won the siege, but their forces where completely spent
>bent over backwards and took it up the ass
>they gave in to all of the dominions demands
>no more Talos worship
>they allowed the domion to stay in southern hammerfell
>hammerfell was like, fuck you elf fags
>hammerfell left the empire
>hammerfell kicked the dominion out of the southern territories almost completely by themselves (just had help from one single empire legion that was trapped behind enemy lines when the deal was struck)

And thats why Hammerfell is independent by the time of skyrim

You forget that small indie games need far less processing power and the possibilitys in them are still very limited and even while there are some random encounters it still gets old pretty quickly because it's ultimately the same again and again

And an rpg is something entirely different
The npc would need to be able to adapt to (nearly) endless possibilities and react in slightly different ways each time
Only the voice acting would need an incredible amount of work but even then we have no true artificial intelligences now that would be needed to control the npcs

This has been my most anticipated game for years. Despite all the hate, Skyrim is probably my favorite game ever with the others following close behind. I've put over 1000 hours in it with zero mods, and I feel like I know it better than my own mother. It's legitimate art. It has some huge flaws, though, so here's what I think ES6 needs:

>ACTUAL layered armor
Fallout 4 was a step in the right direction, but it was so fucking limited and you couldn't even layer most shit
>More diversity in weapon types
Think Morrowind. Instead of having bows, swords, etc. have a bunch of types of each like shortsword, longsword, claymores, etc. And for the love of god staffs and staves
>More armor sections
Once again, like Morrowind. Have left shoulder, right shoulder, you get it
>WAY more magic diversity and bring back spell creation
Magic in Skyrim was dogshit to put it bluntly. Complete overhaul
>Bigger cities and way more people in them
Cities look beautiful but are all sized more like towns and have a handful of people in them. None of them feel like real cities, but technology should allow for them to grow
>NO VOICED PROTAG
I actually liked it for what it was in F4 but it destroys roleplaying, and in ES that would absolutely ruin the entire game
>nerf enchanting and make unique weapons better, also make them all actually look unique
Enchanting made all unique weapons obsolete, not to mention they looked like normal weapons most of the time anyways

Also as a side note, I'd love to see them use the weapon crafting system from F4. Could you imagine making your own sword from different blades, hilts, crossguards, and pommels, and then naming it? Would be baller

i was mostly thinking about what if unchecked bandits grow so strong, the game becomes hopeless? Forcing players hand to pick sides before that is a bad move, for game ultimately intended to give that player freedom.
It's details though, i'm all for it.
>>
>>678184925
I think it would be kind of cool to have a game just in one massive city. The imperial city would have been good for it, if it were remade like 10x bigger, with slums, catacombs, fishing villages on the lake, portals to daedric planes, and just a massive lively multilayered city.

They could also do something like that with a city in hammerfel, it might actually be more interesting.

Why nerf enchanting? You want spellmaking to feel like you're really mastering magic but you want to be a supposed master enchanter and only be able to make things half as good at best as you can find in game?
I'll admit it was half over powered, half underpowered. For example even with exploits, you could only get about 46% fire, frost or shock resistance. And no way could you ever make master robes that fortify magica regen by 150%. But you could make ridiculous weapons that do 200 fire damge per hit.

An actual Story.

If Fallout 4 has shown us anything is that Bethesda doesn't seem to be changing at all. They make massive areas with nothing of substance in it. Sure there are millions of locations, but it's randomly generated treasure in as location with monsters, not related to any quests or what not.

When you have to rely on your mod base to make your game good, you have a fucking problem with your game.

>>678187556
Yeah it doesn't make the game difficult - if you want complete resistence, use alteration magic and get the 30% resistance and 30% absorption plus enchanting, or be a Breton. It's just silly that you can't make something that makes you resist 70% any element when you can find that in game, and only fortify magica regan by around 50% when robes you can buy or find arre 150%... all when you're supposed to be a master enchanter.

goblins coming back would be nice as well, with their own style of cave excavation. Flesh them out more so they have a sort of society, with slaves working the pickaxes, and a big fat one as king. Maybe have some orcs or gremlins or whatever else have some connection and alliance with them. Maybe if you befriend a orc guy he can introduce you to a friendly tribe of goblins. Or have a necromancer raising dozens of goblins into tomb guarding ghouls who guard the entrance to his secret base.

It wouldn't even need to be the whole things, just parts, or the deeper harder parts. Human or goblin or whatever areas could all have their own lighting. Lets put it this way.
I still haven't hit level 50(on PC) because I keep restarting and trying to make the perfect playthrough.
I'm one of those people who are obsessed with looking at themselves, so I constantly play in third person and am constantly looking at my character. I also tend to use very revealing head gear.
That's one thing that bugs me about the hair style is it clips in the back when crouching, so I tend to use a bandanna to hide it.
>>
>>678193154

>>
There is absolutely no way they'd make 6 be Hammerfell, as cool as that would be. With social justice at an apex these days, the game would get criticized to hell and back. They may stick with white people, like a Skyrim sequel (ugh) or a High Rock setting, but I think they're going to use their non-human races for deniability. Bonus points that orsinium, elyswyr and black Marsh would all be cool.

If somethings off with the face I just use showracemenu to fix it real quick.
But if something's fucked in game then I just get mad and start contemplating a new playthrough.

You are on a boat going west to an old yokudan temple, jutting out of the water on a jagged rock island... You heard about a ancient and valuable artifact hidden in the sanctum of the temple no one has visited in living memory. They say before the cataclysm it was a mysterious complex which was revered by the priesthood.

You get of the ship and head to shore, inside the ceiling looks like the night sky with starlight shining from the dimness. You see some strange things, must be magical- things moving and levitating. You hear a voice in your head, and then in reality. As you enter the holy sanctum, you see a man- or a god levitating crosslegged. When you peer at his face, it seems as though there is fire burning behind it no matter which angle you view from.
