Because you're retarded.

Would you rather have an aircraft that can be stealthy or not stealthy depending on the mission

Or

Have an aircraft that can only be not stealth.
External stores are only used once air superiority is established.
>>
>>678069131
I remember reading that it was possibly the fastest plane of all time at sea level. The limiting factor was that the poly-carbonate canopy would overheat in the dense low altitude air and haze over blinding the pilots, it had power to go faster.

lol the thing i love most about these things is their skin evolved over time, basically you had to fly them a couple times before it was friction tempered enough for optimal performance.

yeah, would of been a huge advantage if it wasn't for commie look down radar

yes it is....it just does not fly higher than a coupple of meters over the water....they classify as a type of aircraft.
>>
>>678069474
It flew. It just couldn't fly more than like 20 feet in the air because it used the ground effect to fly, not traditional lifting wings.

Technically it is still an aircraft.

to my knowledge it doesn't stall more, but it's faster than other types of comparable planes that wealthy enthusiasts tend to purchase. this increase in speed causes it to "get ahead" of the pilot and hence they crash.

Why would Airbus be launching the A400M, a brand new prop driven military cargo plane, if props sucked? The A400M is pretty awesome.

I've been thinking about getting a FPV wing as well. I already have the FPV gear and the controller so it's pretty cheap to add another aircraft to my fleet. I really love the maneuverability of mini-quadcopters though. It's really fun how you don't have to face the direction you are traveling at all. You can be going 80 mph and then just turn backwards or 90 degrees sideways to the direction you are traveling like it is nothing.

Hush up about energy efficiency. We're talking about aircraft here, not a fucking prius.

A turbofan is what you see on most modern "jet" aircraft. Look at a 707-787's engines, and that is a turbofan. The fan is basically more turbines driven by the jet engine.

Turboprop, is an actual propeller, of any sort, powered by a jet or turbine engine.

Radar technology has advanced to the point that stealth is more or less irrelevant. Its only effective against certain frequencies and doesn't take long to account for, so it'll be sweet for like a month until every country's radar is recalibrated to see it better. And only when its totally clean config. The ludicrous cost is just not worth it at all. A bunch of non stealth fighters with better flight performance would be a way better value. Not to mention single engine fighters are sketch balls.

TL;DR All the fighter pilots I work with think it's an overpriced niche jet thats just gimmicky, I agree.

With the ww1 howitzers it was really hard to hit the enemy if you didn't exactly new where he was.

This magical flying crafts gave you a birds eye's view of the arrangement of your enemy. Where the infantry sat and where the artillery fired from.

This was devastating for the other side. And it was really hard to take them down from the ground. So some guy though of fixing a damn gun to the plane, and the rest is history.

Also like the art-deco-as-applied-to-aircraft-design of the Lockheed Constellation. Really beautiful aircraft.

The luxury is dead and even being a pilot is just being a glorified, underpaid bus driver.

will never be a pilot in the 60s. feelsbadman

Yeah, an old Qantas one. Tom Cruise apparently owns a P51 Mustang too, and Harrison Ford is big into aviation.

We ate shit hard ourselves when we strolled into there catastrophically overconfident and ill prepared for the level of fighting in that war. Had to go home and completely retool our military training & strategy after that disaster.

Cessna 152. I was on my 3rd solo flight at the age of 16 when the wind suddenly picked up and I had to land this motherfucker in a 30 knot direct crosswind on a 50 foot wide runway.

Only pilots know mfw.

Those things would have destroyed everything the Lufties ever wanted to but couldn't.

Damn lucky the HO crew saw the war ending and dragged their heels building it, or the English would have been exterminated and most likely NY and the eastern seaboard as well.

Because the rebels are a rag tag force that is literally just using whatever they can get their hands on.

J.J. Abrams is fucking that up too with the new movies. He literally only had X-wings and Tie fighters in the new movie because he found all the different ships confusing in the original movies.

He's too fucking retarded to tell what side the Y-wings, A-wings, and various types of Tie ships are on.

>>678076990
The empire is huge. Like really fucking big. All they did was essentially chop off one head of a beast.

No that's true I'm not a fighter pilot.

>Be fighter engineer
>Understand aviation and radar
>Know what it takes to keep fighters airborne
>Know what it takes to keep fighters armed
>Know what it takes to keep fighters fuelled
>Know that spending billions on a gimmick that can only be used without external arms or fuel is a pretty bad choice unless you have enough other airframes to cover the other 90% of situations.

Most countries that it's being marketed to aren't the US with trillion dollar budgets and 5000 other fighters. Patrolling the Canadian Arctic or the Australian outback in a single engine stealth fighter is just downright stupid. It lacks economy and versatility.

...or he realized that the X-Wing and the TIE Fighter were by far the most popular Star Wars fighters and he cared more about making 2 billion dollars at the box office than placating a few thousand autistic, snobby fanboys...

The snobby fanboys are what made the film a cult classic and still relevant to this day. One reason Star Wars was so popular was that it had such depth and detail to the lore. You can spend hours nerding out on all the back story.
