I've had a $300 yamaha for about 10 years and never had a single problem with it. Sounds great for a cheap guitar, never warped, plays pretty nice. Sometimes the cheaper guitars can be real gems.

>cheap guitars really compete with the expensive ones

I actually started out with a Yamaha. One from a starter kit. Let me tell you how long I hated Yamaha for.
A long time.
Now that I've had the chance to play a few that aren't depressing, it's hard for me not to enjoy them
>>
>>677746126
The more expensive ones might be better in a lot of ways, but you have to ask yourself how much of your opinion comes from placebo and hearing what you want to hear. Sometimes cheap guitars really can be pretty good
>>
>>677746126
Obviously a majority of them will sound much better. But every now and then you come across a really well built cheap indonesian model that feels, plays, and sounds like a Japan built one.

It's not actually that difficult, especially after you've had some time to piece it together.
The only thing that's a bitch sometimes is that percussion on the top side of the guitar, sometimes you might not hit it right, and bruise the fuck out of your nail.

>>
>>677746126
They're not set up as well. They also probably have plastic nuts, bridge pins, and saddles. Don't listen to retarded people. There are sometimes rare guitars that sound great for less. It's all about the particular instrument. Also, old Kalamazoo guitars cost half as much as most modern expensive guitars and sound better on average. That's due to their age and the quality of the wood that was still around when they were made. I'd go into it, but half of the people in this thread seem to be genuinely ignorant about music... As far as the actual question goes, Op. I'd figure out what kind of music was once played on that particular mountain and try to play that. If it means learning some Appalachian, or Ozark folk songs, then you'll be better for it.
