I used to have to ask for i.d.s for EVERYBODY at diamond shamrock, even if they look over 40: Or I'm in deep shit and they watched the cameras randomly for that specifically. Got called names on a daily basis, and we had one customer clearly in his 80s or 90s that used to come in daily and was always so upset about me asking for his ID, even though I knew his name and knew hin quite well. It used to take him forever to open his wallet in order to get his ID out for me so I could scan it every single day so I could make sure it wasn't a fake that time in order to sell him his pack of pall malls. He used to complain so much, saying he is loyal and loves the store and doesn't want to go anywhere else. He ended up going to the 7eleven down the street as they don't ID 100 year old men with walkers and oxygen tanks that clearly have parkinsons. It was really sad to me, and shitty on the management's behalf in my opinion, he made our store so much damn money. He used to ask our manager (who he knew extremely well) if there was any possibility he could please not have to go through pulling out his ID each and every time since he was really weak and with his velcro wallet his ID was very hard to get at. I've offered to get it out for him each and every time but he said he didn't want anyone to have to touch his wallet as it's disrespectful in his eyes. He really was a sweet old man, a veteran, and now goes the extra half block to 7eleven so he won't have to deal with our bullcrap. Can't say I really blame him though.
