No one style covers everything. Some of these people are gonna say shit like Wing Chun, Krav, etc. While not complete wastes of time as far as control and dexterity, the shit just doesn't translate. There's a reason that masters of these arts aren't champion class fighters.

Boxing, Muay Thai, BJJ, wrestling. You don't have to master any of them, but you need a certain level of proficiency across the board to counter and work in a real fight. The champion level fighters today are the greatest hand to hand fighters in known history, there's a reason they have such a heavy focus on these styles.

Wing Chun is awesome but at the end of the day there are many effective martial arts for self defence, how you train is more important than the art itself. One flaw with Wing Chun though is it usually dosen't include ground combat which means if some highly trained in judo, bjj or wrestling gets you on the floor you're pretty much done
