Also, Glen Ord. much lighter and less peaty than the Islay malts, but without that cloying sweetness of some of the speyside ones.

and if you want to be different, try Yamakazi - a japanese single malt that has won more than a few awards.

I always go by the scotch whisky assoc website. They're like a quality control for the scotch industry. They have a list of all their brands and distributors. They have guidelines to be on the lists. The only two guidelines I care about are 1) it's has to actually be whisky and 2) it has to be at least 3 yrs old
