Add to that the fact that he just got shot in the gut with a weapon the movie went out of its way to establish was very powerful... Also, what training? The New Age of Star Wars gives us nothing to believe in. It doesn't mirror our beliefs. It's comes packaged with a whole new set of beliefs. Personally I would not be surprised if we saw a gay marriage and an abortion in the next movie and some shit about immigrants trying to get away from the New Order to one of the Free Republics but those Republics having open debates about letting in the refugees.
