About 5 rows down I see a really cute guy. He’s got a bit of a boy next door kind of look going on. Very attractive in a country boy sort of way. I must know more.

I go to view more information, It looks like he popped up because he lives in Hillsboro Missouri, which is somewhat near my um, cousin(?) Anyway, I’m presented an obituary listing. According to the obituary, he died on Friday, November 18, 2011 at his house.

I sat there looking at his photo for a long moment, kind of, I’m not sure what I was feeling at that point, a strange somber fascination I guess. I sometimes get hung up on the “I could have known them / What if I had known them.” thought. I read his obituary over and over again, searching for any details I may have missed the first few times I had read through.

He was born March 3, 1989, about a year older than me. He worked in customer service for Convergys, which sounds kind of like what I do. It also says he enjoyed participating in civil war reenactments and theater. His name was Skyler C McDonald. I would later learn that his friends called him Sky for short

I spent the next 3 hours googling his name, the city he lived in, etc, trying to find out more information. My original goals were as follows: 1. See if I can find more photos 2. Find out how he died. The “died at his residence” thing kinda troubled me. Fuck obituaries for not telling me how people died.

In those 3 hours I found a few articles that referenced people with the same name but are not him. I did stumble upon a photo that looked a lot like him. I clicked through to the page and found some creepy people directory. It said he’s 27 and lives in Hillsboro, MO. (guess they don’t know when you’ve died.) Oddly enough, they show the source of their photos. This lead me to a google plus profile. One photo, 13 followers, 13,117 views.

The photo has details listed. Date taken: 8/7/11, 11:48 PM. Titled: me in the grass.jpg. That’s 3 months before he died. I sat there again, staring at this new view of a familiar face.

I found a listing by the local police department about fatal accidents, google flagged his name on the page but a quick F3 word search found nothing on the page. So I still have no idea how he died.

I also found an article talking about how a scholarship in his name helped some student get to college which made me more curious about him and his family. Why a scholarship? How did they choose this person to get it?

I might’ve given up at this point. It had been about 4 hours total of searching. I figured I’d just settle for tidbits of info and a couple photos, go play some videya and forget about this random dead guy I found on google. I was about to, but then I found his MySpace.

I immediately wrote off this discovery as MySpace has changed so much, I figured there would no longer be any information left. But I clicked on photos and found maybe 50-60 pictures of the guy at various points in his life. I even found a shirtless pic which was sort of a third goal that had popped up during my searching.

Anyway, I’m presently looking through all of his friend’s albums, trying to find any photos which include him. I stopped for an hour to write this up and see if maybe you guys might help me. I have to admit, I haven’t been on /b/ in a couple years.

If again no result, you go to archive.org and try to look at some older snapshots of the page.

Idk it’s late I’m probably not thinking clearly. I’m not sure why I’m sharing this with you. I guess in part, all of my friends are telling me I’m being really creepy and I figured some of you might enjoy the read at the very least. Also, I thought maybe one or two of you might be interested in helping me uncover more information.

I still have not found a lot of new information about the guy, that’s my first goal. I still want more pictures. My next step after looking through all his friends on myspace is to try and find a facebook. I sorta wanna find nudes but I feel like that’s a pipe dream and that’s okay. Most importantly, I need to know how he died.

A little strange, but I'd disagree with you saying what you're doing is weird or fucked up. I do the same from time to time and honestly I think its cool that bits of someone's life can end up catalogued on the internet to be examined even after their dead. No one wants to be forgotten.

Not that strange OP. I used to take photos(from newspaper tributes) of people that gave their lives to save another's. I never really researched their lives, but I would look through the folder on days I didn't feel like training. It was an odd way to motivate myself but it worked.
