They gave me fucking huge routes that took like 12 hours every day to complete.

I hope those two aren't connected. Econ majors can make great money, as long as you don't go work for the government.

Take some finance classes, apply for internships in finance fields (doesn't matter how good you are at finance, they'll teach you) or related quant fields. You can easily make median income starting. Places like PWC, Deloitte, E&Y, and KPMG all higher econ majors for their transfer pricing division like crazy. Huge field, very lucrative, high job satisfaction. Especially if you're a domestic student, since no one likes to hire foreigners.

Just don't take strictly academic courses. First off, they're totally bullshit. Second, you gain no real skills to apply to a job. Talk to your advisor about any "required" classes that don't appeal to you can take some sort of business class. They're easy on the math and much more real-world-applicable.
