Yea, my GF dumped me right before mom was diagnosed too. I was drinking really heavy even before she died, but afterwards I just basically quit giving a fuck.

Then my friend and his wife thought they'd try to help cheer me up and brought over some coke and a bottle of Crown Royal one night. A year later my coke habit was getting way out of control, and I was drinking constantly. I managed to kick both, but only because I discovered that speed was way better than coke, and also didn't pair too well with alcohol. I also discovered kratom around the same time.

I still do speed, but I've found that it's something I can control much better. I'm trying to give up the kratom right now, and then I'm gonna quit doing the speed. Considering what they helped me give up, I think my experience with them has been positive, but it's time to stop I think. I don't like what I've become.

I agree there. In my mom's case though she was a fighter, and fought till the end. She wouldn't have given up. Instead she ended up unconscious and incapable of making decisions like that, so I got to. It was only a matter of time, maybe days, before she would have died, but not a day has gone by that I haven't second guessed my decision to pull her life support. I felt like no matter what decision I made it would be the wrong one.

Her suffering ended, but I still feel like I betrayed and killed her. The one person who never failed me, I failed completely.

Very disgusting, yes. I disagree about the high, but I've never had a high opiate tolerance, and that affects it. Kratom binds to the same receptors in the brain as opiates do. That's why it helps with withdrawals. If your tolerance is low then it can give you a decent buzz too--of course some people say they don't get anything at all from it. Seems to affect everyone differently.

If I were going to compare it to anything else, I'd say it's closer to a halfway decent hydrocodone buzz. Not exactly the same, but close enough.

It is addictive though. It produces withdrawal symptoms, but nothing like opiates. Basically I ache all over, and feel like I'm coming down with the flu for a few days. Unpleasant but tolerable.

There was one guy on heroin who was always nodding off while running machines, and running into stuff, or dropping it off the forklift. When I was in highschool, one of my friends scored a copy of the Anarchist Cookbook. This was just a little before the internet boom began, so it wasn't as readily available as it is now. In it we learned that nutmeg can get you high, so we tried to smoke it numerous times and fucking nothing.

The Cookbook is useless at best, and suicidally dangerous at worst. Nutmeg however can get you high. The secret is that it has to be extremely fresh, and you eat it, rather than smoke it. From what I understand though if you manage to get high from it, you will be fucking sorry as it is extremely unpleasant. By the sound of it I am very glad that we fucking failed.

Sure it feels great and all,I was addicted to morphine due to medical reasons so I know it really feels great, but it really destroys you in the long run, mentally and physically.

I work in a place where there's known to be addicts roaming the streets and every now and then they'll enter my workplace and ask to use the bathroom.
Some of them you can tell are addicts just by their tired looks and slow way of speaking after years of use, but every now and then you get those new users that look like normal people and they will often lie to cover that they're going to shoot.
That is what saddens me the most.
A grown man so desperate for his new high that he has to enter a workplace he does not belong in, lie about why he needs to borrow a bathroom and then dare to leave his shit laying there as he runs out the door.
