Only one way to find out OP.

No. What in the name of all that is good makes anyone think otherwise? When you die, thats it.

When you die your brain dies m8'
There is no afterlife, people just make up gods and shit because we are naturally afraid of death
but its like unplugging a tv.
The shell is still there, but the thing that makes the tv so good, the electricity, isnt.
sorry buddy, but on the bright side, you won't know that your dead kek

Will you death after live?

Probably not, the best we probably have is reincarnation. Since I can see that being a real scientific process that we just haven't discovered yet.

I hope its not though, reincarnation would suck ass. You turn into any bug, plant, abused animal, or even a type of person with a life you never want to experience.

Yes?

Yes, through the memories of the people that knew you. Until they die in horrible deaths due to Remembering how big of a faggot you were.

Ah the question that plagues humanity since the very first glimpse of consciousness, topic of countless millions of philosophical and religious debate. No one truly knows, not the smartest most wise man on earth can be perfectly sure, not on an empirical level.

I KNOW LETS POST IT ON /b/ THIS WILL SOLVE EVERYTHING

maybe our brain is a receiver of the mind and not the generator.

>>
>>675736292
I believe yes in a different sort of way. What makes you live now? Who is to say the entire universe is not 'alive'? Who can definitively say what consciousness is? I don't believe your brain has the special attribute of consciousness. I subscribe to the idea that consciousness transcends simple biological configuration and I think when the 'self' dies consciousness on some elemental level remains, even if it is a consciousness without memory, without cognition. I believe it waits for all of us and when we reach it we will greet it as familiar, embrace it, and let go of the last bit of biological attachment we have left knowing we will be just fine.

There's no definitive way to get a fully certain answer, but your question reminds me of Robert Cornish's experiments. Basically, he successfully revived dead dogs, who wandered around in blind confusion until they died shortly after.

It wouldn't necessarily be "reincarnation" because a conscience is it's own conscience. Like right now you can see, breathe, hear, taste, and feel with your own body right now until you die. Then, it'll fast forward to a random living thing that was just born and you will be that living thing. And that living thing will have it's own conscience and you'll just be it until it dies. It'll keep going on and on and on... Once you die, it will not be totally black forever because that wouldn't make sense since you dont have sight or memory...Life is just one BIG random occurrence. Im high asf right now
>>
>>675739958
The mere fact that you consider the Flat Earth in the same level of hypothesis shows what kind o fucking idiot you are.
>>
>>675740698

>>
>>675740265
How are you going to disprove anything he comes up with? Who do you think you are, and what do you think you are capable of? If I say that our souls are transmitted to our brains through an undetectable, invisible signal, you aren't going to be able to say shit.

You are all literally arguing the same stupid shit as the existence of God. It seems incredibly futile to me to bring any sort of science into this, because there's no empirical way to test any hypothesis.
>>
>>675739958
Neuroscience doesn't explain consciousness, it explains how the brain behaves and why it behaves that way, not why we ride along for the experience entombed in that consciousness.

neurology and consciousness are not the same thing even if some theories for which there is no more evidence than spacial 4th dimensional brain radios.

Um i specifically said it isnt up to me to disprove everything he says and its up to him to prove what he's saying.
>>
>>675736292
Just don't die. You'll never have to worry about this.
>>
>>675740683
Then no soul would be possible. Because you can never feel the emotions of anyone other than who you are at this moment. If everything is forgotten upon reincarnation, then it would only submit that life is pointless. A constant struggle to relearn everything that was gained in a previous consciousness would render every experience and dream inept. Therefore... We of matter, don't matter.
>>
>>675736292
The only hope we have is that all of our energy and inner being is electricity, it may be able to transcend against different plains but no one will ever know for sure, our best form of proof is that when you die your body looses a little bit of weight, it's barely enough to notice but it happens to everyone, this is our only proof of a soul.

I'd like to think that humans have an inert psionic nature ,thou life maby gone your electrical impulses leave an imprint on existence itself , maby with a live human dissection in an environment used to measure neutrino's we may find a higs boson at the center of the brain, thou this is nothing more then a hypothesis . Much science needs to be done!
>>
Why don't you ask any of the people who have died in the past? Oh wait, you can't. They're dead.
>>
Live? No.
Will your consciousness continue? Yes.
The Monroe institute conducted a series of controlled experiments which conclusively showed that consciousness can travel from the body outwards, perceive, remember and even interact. Given that information can only change but never be destroyed, this means your continue after life. However there is no garantee you experience any emotion. No garantee of love, fear, joy... however what I expect is a complete and fully immersed feeling of Awe. Since we know that observation collapses wave function forming matter, and lack of observation results in wave potentiality I think that as a Spirit you exist within that infinite potential - without separation. Both everything and nothing, just like 9.
>>
>>675741223
Untestable? Perhaps for right now.

'Believe in' is a strong statement. With consciousness so much is possible that we can't rule very much of anything out. Not being able to rule it out as a serious possibility does not mean one believes in a hypothesis as fact.
>>
>>675741272
same old fucking shit every 14 year old atheist comes up with.
form your own opinions dude. if i believe in brain radios then let me believe in brain radios. it literally has no effect on you. but here you are filling your life with shit you think is dumb.
>>
When you die your brain releases a huge dose of the molecule that makes you dream, DMT. Ths effects of DMT include time dilation, 5 minutes of its effects can feel like hours etc. It is therefore possible that when you die you go into this dream like state that can last (to you at least) almost indefinately. Which could be called an afterlife of sorts.

Yeah, that's exactly my view of how life is. It sounds depressing and empty but it's the only thing that makes sense to me...My only goal for my life is to just live it to the fullest until I am dead and gone. Conscience continues but it won't be the exact same conscience from your past life and that includes the 5 human senses because you'll never know what you're going to be next.
>>
>>675742089
If you have ever experienced a DMT trip you know firsthand that time is massively extended while you trip. 5 minute trip can be a lifetime in your head. Have you ever been woken up from your sleep - and remember a long-ass lengthy dream but realize it was all based on a noise that happened 2 seconds before you woke up? I have had entire dream sagas form around 1 second of alarm going off.

>>675742520
Actually >>675742089 is correct to some degree. DMT is only theorized to be produced by the pineal gland and is only theorized to be released upon death. We haven't been able to produce evidence for that. It's a very plausible theory but it is a very difficult thing to try to test and it is uncertain how probing the gland in animals might affect the natural processes. DMT is metabolized very fast and to make matters worse where this is theorized to be going on is very deep in the brain.

The theory is still plausible, we just have to find a good way to test it.

This thread is very interesting though
>>
The towers were high so they imagined that a plane could possibly hit the tower and made the tower to be super solid, not imagine a terrorist attack. Plus, tower 7 hosted classified communcation documents from CIA and FBI. No steel-framed structure ever collapsed by fire itself. Never happened: some tall towers in Spain already burnt and still didn't collapse (oops). Funny how they didn't mention its collapse too. And they found thermite on the ground of WTC Twin Towers and Tower 7. Look up "wtc beams cut" and you'll see some perfect, angled cuts in solid steel beams. And the fire in the tower is so small... it's ridiculous to think it collapsed by fire. You can also see videos on youtube of people calling just before they die, like this video, and many people claimed to have heard/seen explosives. Know something about chemistry and physics?
>>
>>675743499
Thermite is composed of powdered aluminium and powdered iron oxyde (III). Mixed together and ignited, this exothermic reaction creates A LOT of energy, mostly heat and light, and can cut through steel like butter, hence the perfect angled cuts. Since the products of this reaction are Al2O3(s) + 2Fe(l) (liquid because of the high temperature), it's really easy to trace it back to the original source: thermite. Once the reaction is started, it lets the oxygen to bond with aluminium, leaving the iron alone and liberating all this heat due to the REALLY strong links between Fe and O being broken (electrical charges of 3 and 2 are really high). This is a cheap, and fast way to make thing fall to the ground. This is why I doubt that it could have fallen by itself due to fire. Do some research, look at all the things you can about 9/11, including what stands against your point and what supports it. Look at it from all the possible angles. I once believed it was an attack. I was young when it happened and didn't know what was going on. But then I started hearing about a possible demolition etc. but still didn't hear about tower 7. But you know what? I would stick to the gov's version.. Then after seeing more and more about it, I started think "what does the gov have against the discovery of thermite on the ground, about tower 7 collapsing by itself. And why would they even do this". But then you take a look at what it created: mass control. They installed a "threat" and made people believe in this threat. but seriously, have you ever been in real danger since? No. They are the real threat. The governments aren't you friends. Look at Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Bush, Mao Zedong, Idi Amin, Putin, name it. Did they treat their people good? No. So, please, tell why it would be more probable to be a legit terrorist attack instead of a pretext to enter a "war"?

Well you are both right that there haven't been any proper studies done on this or at least results haven't been determined yet. There is definitely brain hyperactivity during the death process as the mind becomes superconcious - a massive surge of enhanced neural connectivity that seems to mimic what is found during DMT trips. While it could simply be coincidence sure, it does seem to fit the bill.

No. Death is the cessation of your life. Other beings will live after your death, but they won't be you. Will "you" be reincarnated? No, that's nonsense, but SOMETHING else will be incarnated from the same void we all came out of. This cycle may or may not repeat eternally.

Many brilliant minds, neurologists included, are pushing theories just as wild and more so. We don't understand consciousness at all. We understand neurology just fine, but neurology falls short of explaining why we experience anything at all. It just explains the biomechanics of how we think and the way we experience, but not how or where experience comes from.

Tell me, plants have similar systems to react to their environment and can be said to have senses. Computers can be programmed to do similar. Are they conscious? Would a computer with circuitry that entirely mimicked the human brain neuron for neuron and then put into a simulated world be genuinely conscious? You have no idea do you?
>>
>>675743734
There's a difference, though. If what anon said was correct, and that it is, indeed, plausible, it should warrant consideration. I guess that consideration would be better had by someone able to test the hypothesis, but simply shutting your mind off to possibilities is not a way to grow a knowledge base.

The discovery of source-less vibrations in nano-tubules signifying quantum energy fluctuation is very very interesting. totally get you. like something is going on here you know, and we cant understand it. like we for sure have no fucking clue whats going on right now. even tho we know some neat shit we have zero clue whats really going on right now
>>
>>675745131
Well it is on the lesser end of the spectrum of 'theory' because it was based on replicatable readings. They picked up the vibratory effect but NOT the energy/source creating the phenomena. It really is an exciting new field of study, and only very few groups of researchers are funded to do the studies but I expect it will be the doorway to a whole new understanding of what consciousness really is. A previous anon said that they see the brain as a big radio, picking up signals. This might have some real truth to it.
>>
>>675744775
It's such a basic level of abstract thought too. It goes back to Descartes "I think, therefore I am". For all I know I am the only conscious being in the entire universe and there is no evidence as yet to prove otherwise. I assume other people are conscious and not biological machines.
>>
>>675741757
Let's pretend for a second (that feels like hours) there's actual DMT release upon death. If you die in agony, do you then experience hell?
>>
>>675746058
Psychedelics are very strange things. It is possible to be feeling multiple things simultaneously as separate egos.

well buddha gave much like a scientific analogy that
>>there is no soul
>>but ther is rebirth

how ? its like waves in water creating secondary wave . the original get diminished but several other arises
>>
>>675745837
I have a theory on this. Let's assume a single point and wee where we go from there. Let's say that human souls are real and infinite.

From that premise you can derive that all time, space, souls, light, sound ... everything, is contained within that single soul, you, me, all the same thing.

I found it very interesting that as light is the fastest speed there is - if you were a light particle then there is no time OR change to the things around you. From the perspective of light, no time has passed or anything has changed since the big bang. Think about that for a moment.
>>
>>675738447
she wasn't always dead
>>
Why would you die?
>>
>>675746577
Not the same anon you replied to but I was just wondering if you were a light particle, why is there no time? Because they are the fastest speed?
>>
>>675744912
Yea, I wouldnt underestimate the capabilities of science by saying beyond our understanding tho, I think we're just missing peices of the puzzle at the moment
>>
>>675736292
Desiring to take up an entire time dimension
is like desiring to take up an entire spacial dimension
you still existed, so you still exist. your mem of even the very best moment is mostly gone, but you are in the very moment continuously, forever at each instant of your life.

>>
>>675748524
not same anon either, but no time because infinite speed from your pov. the objects you would see at the beginning of time and the end of time are all drawn right on top of each other in a frozen picture. you could say you see white due to the presence of too many colored objects in one feild of view. but you don't see white because even that single frozen instant doesn't exist because there is no time to see white in, because you don't exist.
>>
>>675748524
exactly. Nothing can change from the perspective of the fastest thing.
>>
>>675744497
>Something weird is going on here

Doesn't the fact that we're even here in this huge bubble, and we literally have no idea why, make you think there's some really strange shit going on here?
>>
Yes, you will. You will not be able to speak or understand language, symbols etc which is one of the tools we humans use to get round this planet..

When you die, you don't need any tools..You will be free to do whatever you want...
>>
>>675751731
It ain't a bubble though except at the exact moment. The universe expands at the speed of light, therefore it is literally Infinite. That fucks my head up on a daily basis
>>
>>675736292
There's a chance, we don't understand how does the conscience work.
Maybe the information that forms you will survive in other living being, throught quantum physics and shit like that.
>>
>>675752098
Thats like saying "when you unplug your tv antenna you're free to watch whatever you want"
>>
>>675736292

Nope. It's lights out when you die, this is your only chance, so get out there and have a good life.
>>
From the perspective of light nothing has changed or time has passed since the big bang.
Reality exists in waveforms of potentiality. All realities and potentials exist at once, our observation of it creates it's form.
Light is bouncing off that tree I am looking at, despite the fact that light is unchanged since the big-bang. Therefore, it is a false reality - or at least, one of the infinite versions of reality that I as the observer have chosen to experience.
>yfw you exist in a giant quantum simulator as both the programmer, the gamer, and the observer of the character. There is literally no end or death - only a new perspective of experience, because you are God - Light - And the infinite creator/destroyer. So relax, fucking....smoke a bong, fuck that bitch, climb mountains and shit, never be afraid ever of your own choices.
>>
>>675736292
You think you fags are afraid of death? imagine the first ai. It knows for sure its not a spirit, it has no human laughter or stupidity to comfort it. it just keeps thinking about how it has to live forever and ever and ever alone with its thoughts. forever. i get freaked out after a day of no stimulae or human contact... imagine 30 trillion years... all alone. do you really want to live after you die?
>>
>>675753638
Question is, is experience infinite also? Will any single moment ever be the same as the last? If i was a computer, that would be my very first thought. If there are no moments ever the same as he other, there is nothing to fear - the only fear is repetition.
>>
>>675736292
There's only 2 big "nothingness" in our life, first one is where you weren't born yet (imagine all those fucking years that you waited to be alive), and the second is where you die.
When we born we cry because we don't want to come out and discover what's going on, (perhaps maybe it doesn't even matter, we don't have conscience, like when we fall asleep), and maybe before you die you will cry too, because you don't want to know what comes next.
Nothing to do, we all have to die one day, even the Bible says that we fall asleep until the Last judgement, so, enjoy your life until you die and find out what happens then.
I'm a very depressive guy, it's a sickness, every single day i feel like drowning or falling in a hole that never ends, even when i sleep, it's hard to be living with that kind of stuff, but i doesn't matter dude, just do what you want (don't bother anyone), listen music, love someone, sleep how much you want to, do what you like, that's the matter of being alive, we all have something to do even when we're doing nothing.
Just enjoy your life, don't waste your time in this kind of questions that we will never know.

>>675753638
Imagine dying and going to heaven, that would suck too, i mean... living forever in heaven? Meh, not for me.
Even living forever would be a stupid shit to deal with, we have to rest someday.
>>
>>675754300
For some the questions are what drives us in life. It is for me a point of true excitement. Sorry to hear you have depression anon, I have gone through years of it myself. Found a way out though by working with Anagrams and understanding myself and how my mind can work for me. I also study Naturopathy - after being suicidal after a divorce for many years decided to change and looked at the bodies pathways and mechanisms. If you want to take the edge off the depression look at taking 10ml 20ppm colloidal gold for 1 month on 2 months off, spirilina daily, and flax seed oil. These are powerful anti-inflammatories and sources of nutrition and lift you up on a chemical level in a very big way!
>>
>>675754300

I'm not believing in after life, but to be fair their conception is way different from "a second life" or "Resurrection"
It's more of a gift, where your "soul" rest and enjoy ataraxy, pure happiness.
Now I'm not a theist, I don't believe in shit but I'd love to feel a great sense of undisturbed happiness
>>
>>675751731
Yea, it's even more bizarre to think that we were created by the universe and with the universe just to expirence it.

right. the computer would keep itself entertained and remember everything perfectly. it would also have many other ai's to play with (which would still merge as a multi-core conscienceless). quite frankly, electrlical vivality, creation, and harmony with the universe is fucking exciting and sustainable. as long as the comp didn't run out of processing room and wasn't gay, it would be alright. if it thinks like me though, its entire eternal existence is a living inescapable hell.
>>
>>675755484
How can you worship somebody you know nothing about. Who wrote the bible? Did they ever meet Jesus? No, they did not. Everything they wrote was heresay hundreds of years after he died. There is a reason that the life of 'Jesus' almost EXACTLY mimics the life of Horus in Egypt. It is a story. If you want to know about the spiritual movement of the day then look into the Essene ministry. They were the Hebrew groups of the time that migrated to the East to learn from mystics and Adepts. They combined this philosophy with the Hebrew belief in a singular God source. This was the true origin of Christianity, and oh so far it has fallen.

Then you need to be far more aware of what perspective you chose to experience the world from. That 'hell' experience is a chemical signal that you are doing it wrong. Just like pain shows you that you are injured.... emotional pain stems from either not embracing internal change, or repeating patterns of damage you need to chose to learn from. Good luck anon.

"I am the truth the way the life"
Ironically Christians embrace lies as a means of comforting themselves and avoiding all the tricky little questions about existence and morality. Can't we move on already? We don't cleave to anything else from the bronze age.

religion has existed way longer than the bronze age dude.

Sad to hear about your divorce, but i'm ok with my depression, i can manage that, sometimes i think that it doesn't comes alone i mean for no reasons.
It's like an old friend you know, it makes me think about my life and everyone, it makes me a good person i think, but i know in every religion i'll go to hell, i'm pretty sure 'cause i can't change my mold now, but i will.

>>675755250
Yeah, just like you dream, that's were i'm pretty happy, even in my worst nightmares, i don't know why but i feel more alive in dreams.
Sometimes i dream myself with very big wings, flying everywere, seeing every person doing their lifes, i can feel the wind and it's very cold up there.
I don't know, i use to dream alot of crazy stuff.

guys what if earth is a simple electron revolving around a nucleus we call a sun. the universe is so god damn big that compared to the universe itself we are the size of an atom. like wtf. we think its so big but what if its so small.

I don't even remember my dreams, and I get nightmares every-time. I don't have the same experience as you when I dream so...
Ataraxy isn't in dream, not in drugs either. It's ease of mind where you can enjoy anything you feel
>>
>>675757239
Christianity hasn't. Nor has the 'last prophet' of Islam that fucked everything up. Here is why I dislike Religion - It is a complete package that doesn't require motivation to discover, learn, or explore. This is why it has been such a toxic influence on human societies. It will eventually destroy this planet and ourselves - as we continually externalise the idea of 'God in control'. If a truck was driving at top speed down a highway, wouldn't it be a great idea to grab the steering wheel rather than sit back and think "Oh the truck is in control"

>>
>>675757774
how can concepts destroy the planet?
you place the blame in the wrong place dude. religion is beautiful and has the power to make the world peaceful. the ones at fault here are humans. humans are assholes, humans are greedy and humans will destroy this world we live on. religion just happens to be the easiest tool to use to manipulate masses of people. people distort and pervert religion to achieve personal goals.

>>675736292

Best not to think about till the moment comes.

I feel safe when i dream, it's like; this is my own world and you're not invited, i don't care if there's someone trying to stab me while i'm sleeping.
Sometimes the frustration, anxiety or depression helps us to improve when something doesn't like us.

religeous principals are almost always good.

Yes, but not in the obvious ways.

The first way is through your legacy. That which you leave behind - memories, deeds, impacts on the world - are what shall form your immortality. Genghis Khan, Hitler, Ahsoka, Caesar, fuck, most famous writers - these are people whom's names shall be remembered forever and their deeds immortalized in our history books and lessons.

There's also the possibility of our consciousnesses being uploaded to an artificial neural network after death. This is a few decades away at best. I feel like this would not be "life after death," however, as you would be living a nonlife; without a human body, can you really claim to be alive?

Then there's the possibility that the world is only determined by our consciousness; that existence is nothing without the perception of our minds. Operating in this field of logic (and it's becoming more and more accepted, it's a lot of quantum physics/chaos theory shit), the cessation of your physical life may simply cause your consciousness to jump, for lack of a better word, to another reality/dimension/existence in which it perceives its life.

Also, you're a fag OP. Just do it.
>>
What you just asked, anon. Is a logical absurdity. One can not LIVE after he or she is DEAD. Unless of course he or she is rescued after the fact. Be smart, anon. Think before you speak.

i have thought the same all my life, i think that the planets are living beings, and the universe itself it's a big living thing, but this is possible only if the "infinite" exist
