What happens if/when Kasich pulls out? Do his pledges get redistributed, or become invalid, or what?
>>
He's staying in until the convention because he's hoping his RNC masters will pull some fuckery and make him the nominee somehow. Dude's an egomaniac.

>there is """people""" that unironically believe that kasich wont win the nomination

OP here, not from the US. Let me rephrase.

When the others e.g. Rubio dropped out, what happened to the pledges for him? Did they get redistributed, or become invalid, or what?

He "suspended his campaign" instead of dropping out because he's a piece of shit, and thus his delegates are still pledged to him.
>>
>>675606301
It varies by state, state. Some become unbound to him, while others still have to vote for him. If it's a brokered convention though all candidates delegates become unpledged.

Holy crap, americans. Answer the question being asked.

If a candidate drops out, what happens to their pledges?
>>
>>675607304
thank you.

No problem. We really need to get rid of the electoral college imo. It's undemocratic, the people should get to pick their next president, not political elites.
>>
>>675606072
He's hoping that Trump doesn't get enough on the first vote and that he wins a subsequent vote when delegates are no longer bound by candidate
>>
>>675607477
I'm not sure you understand what the electoral college is.
>>
>>675607622
Fuck off, commie.
>>
>>675607745
The electoral college has nothing to do with the primaries.
>>
>>675607832
when did OP of that comment say it was? Fucking uneducated swine.
>>
>>675607622
I know that the delegates have to be elected, but they aren't forced to vote for the candidate they were pledged to in the general election, and with superdelagates in the dem's primary. But it's unfair because they are allocated based on voting districts, so the minority votes in district don't matter even if their substantial. The president should be elected by securing a majority of total votes period.
>>
>>675605974
It doesn't matter what the current party rules are, the party establishment will meet before the convention and if they want to change the party's rules to effect the outcome of the election they can. Trump will not be President. Even if by some miracle he gets to 1237 for the nomination the party establishment will find someone to run independent to stop him.

That would assure a victory for Hillary.

according to the polls, Trump being nominated would also ensure a Hillary win

and you mean "ensure," not "assure"
>>
>>675608627
mods when are you gonna stop this faggot?

>That would assure a victory for Hillary.
Are you trying to imply that isn't Trump's end-game all along?
Can you imagine the effect of that ego-driven buffoon?
He makes all previous presidents look like sages.
>>
>>675608377
That's the point. The establishment care more about their control of the party than winning the White House. They would rationalize it as, "we have control of Congress, four years of Hillary is a small price to pay to keep Trump from running the party."

True (although polls can't always be trusted), the GOP is in a really bad position this election. Even if a brokered convention ends with Cruz as the nominee enough pissed off Trump supporters might right him in or not vote.

>>675608882
While I usually don't buy into conspiracy theories I actually suspect this might be true, he's been a Hillary supporter for so long it's possible he's trying to sabotage the republicans.

Good point.
