Installed windows 10 on my new pc off of a usb bootfile. I bought an activation key from a dodgy as fuck site in norway or something like that for $50. Skip cracking Win 7. There is no need for it.
Get a Win 7 Upgrade Disc (cheapest route)
Install Win 7 with the Upgrade disc, but don't activate it or install any updates. Reboot.
Boot from the upgrade disc to install Win 7 to the existing Win 7 on the HD and activate normally. At this point you have perfectly legitimate Win 7 installed on the machine.
Use the free upgrade to Win 10, or not, as you wish.

Both of the computers here are Win 10 via a Win 7 upgrade disc double install, the upgrade discs have always worked this way.

Torrent windows 10 and pop it on a usb stick. Install it fresh, don't risk a shitty fucked upgrade. Install KMSpico and it unlocks 10 no prob.

If you upgraded from either 7 or 8, you get a digital entitlement licence. i.e your motherboard serial or something unique about your pc gets registered on ms servers
any time you do a fresh install of that windows 10 version even on a new hdd it will automatically activate if you are connected to the internet

You don't "switch" to Linux, you transition. Did this in 2008, took a few months of constantly booting back and forth and toying with Ubuntu a bit more each time. At one point I noticed I was rarely booting to Windows anymore because I had gotten used to Linux and found my way around.

Nowadays it's even easier with excellent hardware support and usability.
What Windows or Mac guys don't realize is you need to let go of specific applications or vendors and start using open systems. The price of freedom is constant vigilance.

Just add an 2 extra steps by installing windows 7 then upgrade to 10, make windows 10 iso. Format hdd perform clean installation and windows 10 will automatically activate

When the reality is you have to do a shit ton of work and research to get a non potato distro that actually works and its secure enough

There was one guy who even said he is a student and does not have time to fuck around to get linux running
