it seems like it started as such, then became something of it's own, something more to reflect on the inner desires of humans. these "innocent" creatures, are narcissistic little fucks who think they are entitled to everything, they're selfish in every right, especially the smarties. they think they're smart and brave and tough but are knocked down a couple pegs when they step up. people see these as the scum of the earth and are allowed to take out their aggression on them in a "safe" way.

It's not sexual, nor is it anything to do with bronies or even horsefuckers. It did kind of come from mlp but it's a whole thing of its own. Basically, it's just really satisfying to watch these little things get tortured. They're so saccharine and irritating; watching them get fucked up is like torture porn but without any of the porn. Kind of like Happy Tree Friends.
The idea is that some company started to genetically engineer real my-little-pony style pets that could talk and everything, but PETA broke in and released them all into the wild before they were done, and so they're incredibly stupid and weak. They breed like vermin, though, and though they're sold as pets as well (much like rats) they aren't protected by animal rights since they're man-made. So people just treat them like sentient, retarded little stress balls.
It's pretty entertaining, though I get it's not everyone's thing.
