Unless you're taking a lot, expect less than you anticipate. Acid is an extremely clear-headed trip that goes very easy on the body, especially at smaller doses. Although it does have audio-visual hallucinations, albeit more mild than on other hallucinogens like psylocibin (mushrooms), the primary aspect of an acid trip is its mental effects. For me, it removes my cynicism and subdues my ego, which can be both good and bad. It also commonly gives one the sense that everything is happening for a reason or making one notice patterns everywhere.

That said acid is by far my favorite psychedelic substance, and one of my favorite drugs period. It is like a tool, if used properly it can facilitate amazing things, if used recklessly it can be dangerous. But you will be hard pressed to find a more direct method for inducing either intense mindfulness or lucid introspection.
