So I'm not sure with how you're using the word apostate because they far from renounce God or religion. We believe that they do have authority to act in Gods name, we believe that anyone who believes in Christ can act in Gods name. Protestants and Catholics can feel the spirit, while their gospel isn't considered the full gospel it is in the name of Christ, with the same main general concepts, we believe that the Protestant reformation was inspired by the spirit of God. In the 1890s the US government dissolved the church as an organization and seized their assets. When did Joseph Smith give Brigham Young all the keys necessary to officiate alone? when they left Nauvoo he was only the president of the 12 and he needed all 12 to operate the priesthood keys. Then in SLC he reorganizes the church into it's current permutation with a presidency of 3 and quorum of 12. As a practicing mormon you sustain the president of the church as a prophet. When was he called? How was he raised to that office?
