Hindsight is great isn't it? The joy of being a consultant, at least in my specialism, is that once I've delivered, it's no longer my problem. I do tend to feel morally obliged to not give clients absolute shit though, because I've had to deal with absolute shit from people.

The problem is as much the project management as it is the project. To implement, say, SAP Finance, the Finance department will want to own the project. Because they think it's a finance project. But they won't know the first thing about implementing a solution, be it a finance system or not.

If authority figures in organisations were so far up their own ass that they couldn't recognise they aren't the experts on everything, and then left it to those who are, these projects would run a lot more smoothly.
