i haven't played a single game of the actual tabletop version myself, so don't worry.

pick up Dawn of War (the first ones ideally, mainly for story purposes but dark crusade/soulstorm will probably get you the most out of your money )on steam, if you like Strategy games
they are a hell of a lot of fun.
