The Soviets used these during the Battle for Berlin. Moved them up a street and used them for direct fire against buildings or bunkers.
That entire battle is insane and one of the most interesting in my opinion.

Form what I can gather, gun typically refers to a smoothbore that is portable.
The only modern guns are those used on some tanks.
But as you said, it's now a catch all term and it really is pointless to argue about it. Now if you really want to annoy me, use the term "Assault Weapon". THAT is something meaningless.

BEST

BATTLE

RIFLE

EVER
>>
>>674488103
>>674488011
some key differences:

>rolling magazine load allows much faster reload
>muzzle breaks
>picatinny rails allow laser sights and reflex optics (literally only meant for close combat)
>most of those rifles (AR-15) can be modified for rapid fire (bump fire) and sear modifications for actual auto fire with basic machine work
>and here is the most important part, all of those assault rifles have large heatsinks for the sole purpose of rapid fire
an assault rifle has a simple definition, a rifle designed for assault

An assault rifle by definition cannot be semi-automatic. And saying they can be easily modified is dishonest. The same type of logic could be used by make a pressure cooker classified as an explosive.
Even with a bump-fire stock it's still semiautomatic since the trigger is being pulled every shot.
And the features such as the handguards are there for the shooter's safety, to say that's a bad thing is to advocate for making guns less safe to use.

An assault rifle is a select fire rifle in an intermediate cartridge, you commie faggot.

A muzzle break is helpful for competition, practice, or for people who enjoy target shooting but have weak constitution like my grandfather who is on blood thinner and bruises with heavy recoil.

>adding shit to a rifle makes it more likely to commit murder
Faggot.

Bump fire is extremely inconsistent, and requires very odd grip that sacrifices most of your ability to aim. It's generally a retards way to show off. And modifying a sear isn't as easy as you think. It's more likely to give you a gun that will go off if you fucking shake it wrong. Find my evidence of the millions of AR owners modifying sears and its credible as a complaint.

>heatsinks
No they don't. Traditional rifle grip requires a hand on the forend of the rifle, those are just grips. With extended fire they fucking melt or catch on fire.

Learn something before you try to dictate right from wrong.

The trend of smoothbore guns for tanks started around the 1950s, so less than 100 years ago.

i used to fuck a gun nut.
she'd come over sometimes while her boyfriend was away after school.

once the door would close she'd almost instantly get naked. most times she'd put on her favorite song and start sucking. then she would cry. her tears and makeup would drip down her face onto my dick. its surprising how cold tears are. eventually i finally asked her what was wrong. in between licks she told me that her favorite song was also her bfs favorite song. so even though she loved hearing it and it totally got her pussy wet, it also made her think about the fact that she was cheating on her boyfriend. i dont think i ever came harder down somebodies throat then right after she told me that. she was beautiful. we dont hang out anymore. wanna get lunch?

this was the song:

rolling magazines are magazines that can be inserted in a rolling motion front to back, it is a poke-yoke feed that forces the magazine to be inserted correctly without jamming, this is one of the key reason why the ar-15 (as the m16) was adopted by the US military

I can understand a reflex site at up to 100yards, but past that it is so shitty, you are confirmed as not being experienced with them

the picatinny rails make metal contact with the barrel to force them to act as a heat sink to improve air cooling, there is a reason why floating barrels are only really found in long distance guns that you shoot slowly

Except that the AR-15 is designed, and most variants produced have a floating barrel you gigantic assmaggot. Picitanny rails acting as a heatsink is the most retarded anti-gun shit I have literally ever heard.

And plenty of competition occurs at under 100y, so dot sights have a clear place in sport shooting. Regardless, there are plenty of other things to attach to rails, like optics, flashlights, grips to make it more comfortable to use.

And there's nothing wrong with having anything on a home defense gun.

Tommy gun is the most recent small arm I can think of that featured a heat sink barrel but I cannot think of a small arm where the hand guard railed or not is intended to dissipate heat, in fact many feature heat shields to keep the barrel from transferring heat to the hand guard, not the other way around.
Some soviet heavy machine guns but those wouldn't be assault weapons by your batshit line of thinking.

You use flutes or a thicker barrel to disperse barrel heat, both of which are typically only present in precision rifles, either semi-automatic,or bolt action. A heavier barrel is generally better to begin with, and is undesirable in "assault" rifles for the portability issues it causes.

no, I am suggesting that a barrel+heatsink does not get as hot as a uncooled barrel
>>
>>674495370
If you were a fucking engineer you would know that air cooling isn't as effective when there's no air in contact with the surface area because your hand is there. And where is that heat going to go then? Into your fucking hand.

Well it has to have locking lugs to function as a bolt action rifle but if they fail or it manages to fire out of battery (if the piece that rotates the bolt fails, it won't rotate into battery, the force of the firing pin may force it enough to save your ass though), all there is between the bolt and you is the notch on the bolt lever in the case of the K31. As opposed to a more conventional design where the bolt handle or an additional safety lug elsewhere is usually present, and you can tell where you rotated fully into battery by the position of the bolt handle.

Too bad they couldn't even use one of his rifles for his funeral detail. The guards carried SKS, which is their standard ceremonial rifle, but I'm sure you can see how symbolic it would be for them to use an AK for the day.

Neat. I thought it was a NTW at first glance. What kind of accuracy are you seeing out of it?
I wanted a SSG 69 as a babbys first modern precision rifle but it just seems like more trouble than it was worth.

No forward assist
How do you get a round chambered if it's being stubborn? And what is that optic
>>
>>674502052
Looks like a gun show special, one of the chinese ones you see sold under a few dozen brands. Both the rifle and optic are more than suitable for plinking and if that's all he bought it for there's no problem with that.

Solid at 1500m. Can't really do any further due to space limitations on the property.
>>
>>674503147
The only time you should really see feed issues outside of doing things to an AR you shouldn't really be doing is out of spec ammo, excessively tight or out of spec chamber (tight is where you get a lot of the issues in DPMS uppers, you'll also see this a lot more in match rifles similar to match 1911s) and a very dirty chamber caused by switching back and forth between steel and brass without cleaning over a long period of time. Short of those issues it's usually operator error an AR gets dirty enough to fail.

>>674503168
As long as the ammo is consistent. I have to load my own because you can't buy factory ammo or brass or primers anymore. Got good stocks of primers before they banned them and got mates in the army who can pickup brass off the range. Oddly, I can still buy the 50bmg projectiles.
