Ever seen an old welder??? Yea not a pretty sight.

Quit welding 2 years ago. Second best choice ever . First was that i pulled out and dident make my w.t gf preggo win win

Ironically, I too weld but for a major US automotive company. Debated about going into school after being involve with skill trade at the company I work for. Then a month or so ago got moved to a new welding job (and hemmer for door assembly) and worked two days on the job and got zinc oxide poisoning. Or atleast I am pretty sure I did, because I do not normally cough up blood. Currently in the process to switch to medical industry for long term, but taking a fat pay cut :(

Fuck welding.

The job I got moved to (we get little to no training, ever on any position) I started working on as soon as the bell started for our shift. I was working close to a hemmer that spews some pretty nasty gas and fumes out of because its folding metal over metal with a couple of different sealers. I started to get a scratchy throat and ate a bunch of cough drops to try and fix it.Then day two of same job, I was like "Fuck this sucks over here" and was wondering why I felt so bad. Then a team leader came over and was like "did you turn on the scrubber?" and of course I was like "Well no how the fuck would I know about a scrubber on a job I have never worked on?"

I told him I felt like shit he said to go over the hazard sheet and see what it says which is bullshit because the rating is not correct for safe levels of harmful particles in the air. I turned the scrubber on and finished my shift. The next morning I woke up feeling like absolute shit. Coughed when I was brushing my teeth and hacked a gross loogie ball up with a substantial amount of blood in it. Luckily the next time I got that same job I turned the scrubbers on. Now I know why the Team Leaders and people who worked in that area for 30 years have hoarse voices and gravely speaking. Who knows how many years they did it for without OSHA coming in and telling them you have to have a scrubber on these jobs.

What dicks. Hate people who just chuck you into things like that without proper introduction.

When i went to learn how to weld there was a guy who had been welding for a week without putting his shield down. Instead he had been looking through the little slot on the bottom since he could not see when the shield was down......was like wtf.. Took him a few weeks before his eyesight was back to normal again.

Also dickheads wearing metal jewlery..using gloves when operating the floor drill.

Best part was when a arab fucked up our cutting robot by getting the flame of the oxy acet too close too the metal. Cant remember what its called in english. Dumb mutherfucker dident even cut the gas. Just stood there looking at the massive flame sounding like a jet engine
>>
>>674446209

Given the proper mix of oxygen, jet fuel can melt fuckin' granite.

I work for the city I live in. Parks and Rec department. The crew I'm on consists of the boss, the mower guy, the general worker (my father), and me (also a general worker). Mornings we ride around the park picking up trash, then we take care of the 6 baseball fields (not all 6 are for baseball, some are softball or teeball fields, but their all the same to me). Me and my father run the weed eaters get the spots the mower can't go to. We also set up the Civic Center if there are events planned. Though half the time we just sit around.

Most laid-back job ever!

The only good part is most of the jobs in the auto industry use fixtures to hold pieces while robots do most of the work. So most idiots can do it. But with this being so common place, rarely is there any training what so ever. ANY TRAINING. They show how to load the job up in the fixture once or twice then expect you to do it (sometimes its 3 peoples worth of work, so instead of just 1 cell its 3 - 4 cells for one worker which = 3 - 4 separate jobs). So rest easy knowing your "american produced" vehicles are being made with sub assembly parts with no training whatsoever.

I see people all the time doing the same shit, welding and doing work with heavy machinery with jewelery on. Its a big no no. Fingers get lost because of that fuckin wedding ring they may be wearing. I have another friend I work with that said the same thing about welding with a mask on, said some dumbass in his classes already basically went temporarily blind because of not listening to his instructor. (mind you that isnt through our employer)

Commercial Mortgage-backed Securities stuff.

Pro-tip: If you're a rich enough fag to be an investor, stay away from any Portfolios of the "Single Family Rental" type. If/when the economy takes another hit in the next 5-10 years, these assets will likely be a contributing factor. A lot of them are the same collateral that went tits-up during the crash, but now repackaged as Commercial assets to get around the Dodd-Frank restrictions on Residential investments. The same banks/entities/people that originated the shitty investments that fell apart in 08-09 are still in the business, they mainly just switched employers around like a game of hot potato. Still with the same, shitty credit fundamentals.

Also, probably not wise to rent one as a resident for terribly long if you aren't positive of your finances. A deal too good to be true probably is.

They'll look like good investments from either end for a while longer, as none are older than 2014. But it won't take more than a decade to see shit unravel.

Right now I work at an auto parts factory, and I get pretty decent sized bonuses as well as pretty good pay for brain dead work. Working on getting a machining degree because I'd like to go get a job for one of the auto giants instead of making parts for them.
Life is meh. At first people made fun of me for getting a factory job out of high school, now I drive a 15' Chevy Ltz and go to just about every music festival in the summer while they sit at home and smoke pot or jerk off. I find my happiness in knowing I'm living pretty well, though factory work has it's own way of making you feel worthless anyway lol.

I clean carpets

It's a shitty job but making $600 to $800 every 2 weeks is what keeps me there. No prior experience/skills needed for anything. I've worked retail that had stricter qualifications and shittier pay

Trying to save up to go back to college and get that piece of paper that tells everyone I'm good enough to hire and possibly get a "career" instead of just a "job"

OK...and the reason being? Just because? I make a decent living off it. Made $700 in one day from one contract. Another we were making 110/hr. Made $2000 in the last 3days. So "kek" away. It don't matter to me. I work for myself. Choose my jobs. Work when I want. Work from home too, at times. Get paid well. My upcoming contract is $10k for a week's worth of work.

Had an Etsy that I shared with my shopmate but he is trash and I don't want my work associated with his anymore, as much as I love the kid. Installed Instagram like last week. REUP GLASS is my name on there. I'll be putting flicks up tomorrow.

Why are architects such asshats?

>mechanical contractor design engineer here
>>

Journeyman is a step above apprentice and a step below master. Such as master electrician/plumber. Level below is journeyman. And thats mainly number of years in the trade not skill tested. You can find this with a google search i believe

I do this as a hobby. Hopefully one day I will be good enough, have all the appropriate tools, and enough practice to further my skills and business.

I always carry picks in me though.
