As a canadian, I would say people love him or hate him. Personally I didnt vote Liberal, but Im satisfied with him as the leader of our gov. Im not a fan, but finaly we got a young PM with an open-mind. Im a lil bit worried about the economy, but they still have more than 3years to work, so getting really mad is a waste of time. And I dont know how is it in other province, but where I live in the east, generally, people hates him for 2 reasons : First, he let 25 000 syrians refugees came in Canada and a lot of people are mad with this , but a majority of them dont have any good reasons, for them syrians=terrorist. I laughed. He was a drama teacher who didn't even want to be in political office. The liberals convinced him to run after their crushing to defeat. Trudeau has no idea what he is doing, he has very little to no political experience or expertise in anything. He has no degree in economics, no degree in political science, his qualifications are minimal. There were far better choices for prime minister in terms of qualifications, but then again the liberals do not believe in qualifications, they believe in pandering to fit quotas based on race/genders. Anybody who knows anything about basic economics knows race/gender quotas are toxic to the economy; aside from that they are anti-freedom and a form of racism.

A form of racism that is now celberated in Canada has inclusiveness and diversity. You know what is a source of strength? No not increased diversity allowing in over 300,000 immigrants a year (nearly half of which have no skills) in a tumbling economy with low unemployment, a source of strength is a strong economy.

If you think for a second Trudeau has any sort of power you are lying to yourself. He is controlled by the liberal party more so than any other politician before him. Basically it replaces all the other welfare and crap so that's where the money would largely come from I think though the provincial government has part of their budget set aside to see if this will work.

It's a good thing because currently with the way welfare works it can be a disincentive to get a job because you could actually make less money because then you'll lose benefits, that's one reason at least. Basic income is a really good thing for students and low income families because it means you don't have to have two jobs at McDicks to keep from starving to death. Studies have found it largely eliminates poverty and some even go back to school for higher education now that it isn't absolutely necessary to work. That's the really short, simple version. I support it, but do agree it's radical enough they should test it first.
