Hard to say if it will hurt, different people have different pain tolerance levels and it depends on where you're getting it.

Nah, me and a few buddies had the AF Pararescue logo tattooed on our backs and it's more so annoying than painful. End product takes up 75% of my back, which also took a couple trips. Have something to keep you occupied mentally.

Don't just get something on a whim. I thought long and hard on every tattoo I have, besides two, which I'll explain in a moment. Each one means something to me or was something I designed myself. I have a sketchbook filled with all of my ideas as far as design and where I want everything placed. I go to an artist that's been in the business for 25+ years, so I know I'm paying a little extra to make sure it's done perfectly. The only two that went against my initial planning were done as a memorial after a very close family member died.

As for pain, it depends on the person. I was told the ribs are one of the most painful areas, but I didn't feel shit. The only area that really bothers me is the inner arm, but I'm just about done with those now anyway.

I have a few tattoos, one of which is a Zelda tattoo. My Zelda tattoo pays homage to a series that was important to my childhood, friendships and adult life. That said I also have it in a location where it can be covered by a shirt so that it won't impact my professional life. That is my rule for all of my tattoos and piercings, that they shouldn't impact my professional life. While I would like my work skills and ethic to be proof enough of my competency people tend to judge you based on tattoos and piercings as well until you prove to them that you have actual ability and talent.

Many of my friends find tattoos to be painful, I personally do not, though this is not typical. I have a high pain tolerance (I broke my leg in three places once and thought it was just the funniest damn thing as I crawled to a main road) so you should expect that it will hurt some. I also expect that part of the pain is anticipation of it. It may be uncomfortable, but painful is not the right word in my experience.

You should consider the tattoo in question for a long time. My first tattoo I only considered for 6 months before getting but it was important to me and I decided to get it anyways. I do not regret it. My Zelda tattoo I thought about for years before getting.

As with all other aesthetic decisions you should be very aware that people will judge you for it and make their decisions regarding you based on that. This can be a bad thing as it causes people to jump to conclusions. This can be a good thing as you can use it to make quick judgments of people as well.

Don't apply false significance to your tattoo. I know people who excuse their tattoos as tribute to dead relatives to others but have confided in me that they just got it because they wanted it. If you got it because you wanted it or it looks cool just fucking get it.

Don't get any Christian tattoos unless it's Leviticus 19:28.

It's your body and you have to live with it, but you won't live forever.

If you want to know if it hurts just go to a tattoo store and ask if they could penetrate you without ink. Also if you want to get a tattoo make it something unique. For video game related stuff I would choose something drawn by yourself if you are really good at drawing or ask the tattoo guy if he could think of anything.
