It's not as simple as schadenfreude.
It's not meant to "troll bronies" either. Bronies are the ones making this art.
There's some cathartic release in it. Ponies are so cute and perfect they make bronies feel cute and perfect, too. This is the appeal of MLP. It's a return to innocence and perfection.
But feeling this way requires the suppression of negative thoughts about ourselves. The reality that every brony knows, which is that they're smelly, fat humans who shit and piss and are ugly.
Flufflies are inverted ponies. The expression of the negative thoughts that ponies make bronies suppress. Destroying them in the most vile, horrific way is cathartic because it's symbolically destroying that ugly part of them. It's a way to turn inward, face those negative thoughts, and annihilate them.
It releases the internal pressure that gets built up when bronies are forced to deny reality to live in their fantasy world of innocent perfection.
Looking over its contents, That DF mod could possibly do with a little refinement. Setting personality levels, implementing personality traits, adding fluffy herds as animal-people style insgnificant civilizations, etc
I just realized that you should add the tag in this mod to make fluffies steal food from villages. Why? Because that would make people in towns complain about fluffies and ask the adventurer to kill named fluffies.

I mean it's not JUST schadenfreude. A genre of art that focuses strictly on abusing a particular version of characters from a particular show can't be chalked up to that. There's something else driving it. You don't see this happening with any other cartoon, and you don't animal abuse art like this in general. There's other psychological mechanisms at work with this.
