He (John Currin) is mimicking some aspects of Baroque painting, in terms of forced perspective and odd proportions to the body. But he painted it in an almost Flemish realism, in terms paint application. He's making it look sort of real, but really fucked up at the same time. He does a lot of that.

He painted "hotel" art - the kind of nondescript, soulless shit that is purchased en masse by hotel chains to hang in the corridors of 4-star establishments. Dark Souls? Story is pretty hollow, but the art and atmosphere FromSoftware makes in each iteration is incredible. Still get goosebumps from the music from the main menu.

Not that I know of. I start them every few months but I don't browse 4chan regularly enough to tell you. It seems like a few other anons also post sparingly.
If you guys ever want to see some great art; I'd recommend going to New Orleans in the French Quarter. The local artists are great and sell pieces that look like they're from the Harem Renaissance era. The musuem in Audobon if I recall correctly has an amazing collection.

No they weren't. They were competent. But he was no more fantastic than probably the dozen other watercolor artists applying to the school.
What makes them not fantastic? They are lifeless, motionless. A fantastic painting of a building gives it dynamism by growing it in with the light and environment. Hitler's buildings were technical constructions with no real attention to how the atmosphere can make it come to life (proof: look at the sky in his paintings -- it's dead).
